Re: WildVisionsWK - Build Thread

So today I intended on finishing up my fog light install, but my WK had other plans. When I returned home from a quick errand, I realized that my WK decided to throw up....all over my drive way.

After a long while of playing 'spot the leak'...I'm a little baffled. Has any one else had this happen, and where the heck is it coming from? It seems to be on the driver's side, far right side of the radiator (or in that general vicinity)

I'm hoping it's just a hose and that my radiator didn't decide to take a dump today. I snapped a few pics (and a quick video) showing where it's at, in case anyone can shed some light on this?

*barf*

The view looking in from the engine bay. I have already fondled the large hose connecting to the radiator and that hose is fine, no moisture, cuts, damage, etc.

The view when I crept in under the bumper.

The view looking up past the part with the black/green wires.

Where the heck is it leaking from? I'll post the video as well once it finishes uploading. I'm hoping it's just a hose or something simple that can be fixed 'DIY'.

Here's the link to the video.

I'm debating removing the front bumper to get a better look in there. Hmm..

Interesting. I would post this in the main WK area to get a broader view.

Just did. Hopefully someone has an idea of where this is coming from so I can determine just how screwed I am, lol. :P

It does kind of look like Radiator fluid but then again I don't want to jump the gun.

It has a greenish tint to it, smells kind of sweet, and is a bit thicker than water, so it's most likely coolant, as I can't think of anything else that would be coming out from the radiator that looks/smells this way. I just hope that the leak is due to a hose and not because my radiator decided to keel over and die. :P

Most likely it's AC coolant.

Same problem here

Re: WildVisionsWK - Build Thread

It looks like its coming out Of the drain knob....can you see leakage above that?

Yep, there's leakage way above that, but when I reach my hand up there I can't feel/find a source for it. It just seems to be in random places.

Re: WildVisionsWK - Build Thread

Hey everyone! It's been a while since I updated. I got rather bogged down with school, work at the hospital, etc.

I was able to repair the leak, which was coming from the side of the radiator. After $150 and a few hours of my time, I was back on the road. I spent about a week without my WK while I waited for Rock Auto to ship the part and I hated it! It had gotten to the point where I couldn't drive more than 1-2 blocks without seeing this:

Not cool at all. >:|

Leaky old radiator

New one getting fitted. It was such a pain in the ass to get this thing in there due to it catching on various other components. Same goes for taking the old one out.

Changed the air filter while I was in there, too. The old one was just FILTHY!

After spending a good 2+ hours bleeding air out of the system, I finally was able to drive around town and see this!

So, of course, the next day I resumed my fog light work.

Out with the old, in with the new!

Removing the old multifunction switch.

New switch!

Then it was off to the dealer. $59 and 30 minutes later, my FCM was flashed and I had working fogs!

There goes that pesky ballast that wouldn't stay put. The methods of securing these (that were provided) SUCK!

So yellow!

Unfortunately I have a bad habit of plowing over speed bumps and dips way too fast (went airborne once..oops) and somehow the ballast on the driver's side came loose. I realized this when I parked, bent down to look at my fogs and saw that not only was the ballast missing, but the wires AND the bulb were also yanked out. Needless to say, I was not pleased, especially since it happened the day I got the system flashed, so I didn't even get a chance to test them out at night yet! I will be getting a replacement ballast, wires, and bulb and will then look into screwing the ballast into some place on the body so that it won't come out no matter what. Or just stick a skid plate under there so my car's guts won't be exposed and vulnerable to getting snagged out. :/ It may have to wait a while though, as I have something big (not car related) in the works at the moment which, if it goes through, will be tapping into quite a bit of my financial resources. Fingers crossed that it goes as planned!
