Hey everyone! It's been a while since I updated. I got rather bogged down with school, work at the hospital, etc.
I was able to repair the leak, which was coming from the side of the radiator. After $150 and a few hours of my time, I was back on the road. I spent about a week without my WK while I waited for Rock Auto to ship the part and I hated it! It had gotten to the point where I couldn't drive more than 1-2 blocks without seeing this:
Not cool at all. >:|
Leaky old radiator
New one getting fitted. It was such a pain in the ass to get this thing in there due to it catching on various other components. Same goes for taking the old one out.
Changed the air filter while I was in there, too. The old one was just FILTHY!
After spending a good 2+ hours bleeding air out of the system, I finally was able to drive around town and see this!
So, of course, the next day I resumed my fog light work.
Out with the old, in with the new!
Removing the old multifunction switch.
Then it was off to the dealer. $59 and 30 minutes later, my FCM was flashed and I had working fogs!
There goes that pesky ballast that wouldn't stay put. The methods of securing these (that were provided) SUCK!
Unfortunately I have a bad habit of plowing over speed bumps and dips way too fast (went airborne once..oops) and somehow the ballast on the driver's side came loose. I realized this when I parked, bent down to look at my fogs and saw that not only was the ballast missing, but the wires AND the bulb were also yanked out.
Needless to say, I was not pleased, especially since it happened the day I got the system flashed, so I didn't even get a chance to test them out at night yet! I will be getting a replacement ballast, wires, and bulb and will then look into screwing the ballast into some place on the body so that it won't come out no matter what. Or just stick a skid plate under there so my car's guts won't be exposed and vulnerable to getting snagged out. :/ It may have to wait a while though, as I have something big (not car related) in the works at the moment which, if it goes through, will be tapping into quite a bit of my financial resources. Fingers crossed that it goes as planned!
