Hey guys, I'm Dustin from Louisville Kentucky. I have owned my WK for about 2 years now, but just now getting up to making a build thread. I'll start from the beggining.

2005 Grand Cherokee Limited with 5.7 Hemi, i bought it with about 56k miles on it about 2 years ago. Color is Deep Beryl Green, Limited package, fully loaded except a few options. I bought my Jeep privately from a couple about 100m miles away up in Indiana for $14,700. At the time that was the cheapest GC i could find with the Hemi and felt like it was a great deal. Here is a picture when I first got it, BONE STOCK!

It didnt take long before I started doing little cheap DIY projects to my Jeep to make it my own style, with my newly added Jeep payment and house payment the funds were limited. First couple things I did was install a iCar iPod hookup kit to my factory stereo, one of my favorite mods. Soon after I bought a Euro style shorty antenna to get rid of that factory antenna. I ended up plasti dipping my stock Ronin II's and loved the look of my jeep with something so simple and easy to do.

I came into luck a couple months later, a buddy of mine got the death wobble on his WJ so he stripped it all down and parted his aftermarket parts out and I was the lucky person get his wheels and tires, I got some Black Rock soft 8's with Maxxis Bighorn M/T's, tires and wheels only had a couple thousand miles on them. I lucked out and bought them for only $400 for the set.

Soon after I plasti dipped my grill black, and took off the lower lip from the front bumper.

Recently I bought a RC 2" BB lift and some rear Billstein HD shocks. Instead of buying an antenna mount i decided to make my own because im to impatient to wait for one to ship and I was gonna take my jeep off road for the first time that weekend, turned out great!

Here is my WK with the 2" BB and Billsteins

Recently I finally took my WK to a place called Interlake Park and did some off-roading with some lifted Wranglers and I had literally had these guys drooling and dropping there jaws all day, they could not believe the stuff I was going through, up and down, and around. Here are a handful of pictures from that weekend, enjoy!

did you lift it more after the RC and Bilsteins?...the front end looks pretty high up there in a couple of those pics....also looks like you cut into the front bumper too? did you do either of these or are my eyes playing tricks on me? haha

either way.. really nice!

What size were the Maxxis Bighorn wheels you had on there?

Great looking Jeep really makes me want to get mine lifted.

I believe they were 245/65/17

I liked them too but got tired of the black wheel and I really like the look of the Moab wheel on a WK so I found a good deal locally and bought them.

Just a couple of updates to my thread, over the weekend out of no where my power steering pump went out so I dropped by Oreillys and picked up a new one(pump only) i retained my old pulley, took about 45 minutes total to take off old one, remove old pulley and put on new pump and install, eveything is fine and dandy now.

Now the best part, about 2 weeks ago I somehow stumbled upon a Airaid intake for an 06 Commander on eBay for the Hemi, I did some quick reseach to figure out if if would fit my WK with a Hemi and I could not find any definate answers but everything seemed like it would bolt right up even tho part numbers for the 2 different intake kits were different. By the way it was a full Airaid CAI kit, i got a notificaton auction was ending in 15 minutes the price was a STEAL so i figured Id go ahead and take a chance on it and if it didnt fit I could find someone locally to resale it too. So in the end I got it in the mail about 5 days after paying for item, the guy actually paid $36 to have it shipped to me bc his wife forgot to mail it and he didnt want me to hurt his feedback so he paid more then the originally quoted price for shipping. Everything bolted/hooked up with out any problems or misfits, it sounds AMAZING and was in great condition but the best part of all, I ONLY paid $34, including shipping, for it. Can't beat that!

That's a deal!

Question: When you were at stock height with the soft 8's, did you have any rubbing issues? What is your tire size? Thanks.

#23 ·
They were 245/60/17, and no I never had any rubbing, but to be fair I never flexed my jeep either to that point. But I have seen people on here with bigger tires on stock height and no rubbing issues, just search and you'll find more info

Very nice. Was thinking of doing mine soon. Do them while on the WK? And was the taping off difficult to shape and peel?

Most recent pictures of my WK, plasti dipped the front bumper, moved my 32" spare to the roof to make room for my new 50qt ARB fridge/freezer I won in a free raffle at a local Jeep meet.
