AIT relocation and timing?

I've been told that moving the AIT is effectively tricking the computer into thinking that your incoming air is cooler.

this will cause the computer to increase timing, but once the air reaches the motor, in some situations, it will be considerably hotter.

this can cause a lean condition and some knock.

Is this true? is it a legitimate worry?

Yes moving the IAT sensor down further is esentially tricking the computer in thinking there is cooler air coming in. However from what tuners have tols me is that high IAT temps will cause computer to pull timing, which is what you see under ST knock...
