So i dont like my new VOLANT POS CAI!

i mean seriously. its like everything off that set is from a different vehicle or year.

im talking every phucking corner i ran into was a "thats not going to fit"

the grilles air intake especially- its like the mold is wrong. gaps everywhere and doesnt click in for the life of me!! after messing around soo much to try and get things to fit..

i just said a big PHUCK YOU to my new volant and put my stock intake back on.

seriously wtf!!! i hate you.

disclaimer: ive installed several CAI in my jeeps in my day- this POS was not doable. and if it was it would HAVE TO BE half assed- and i dont play half assed or mickey mouse job/installations.

aggggggghhhhhhhhhhh

You should have invested in a 4" Bwoody.

Re: So i dont like my new VOLANT POS CAI!

Hmmm, never had a problem with my Volant. I like the fact that the tube is plastic, and less susceptible to heat soak. I actually bought mine used, and installed it in less than 20 minutes, everything fit perfectly on mine, maybe you got a bad one? I especially like mine now that I have the Trufiber hood, the cold air duct lines up perfectly with the lid of the Volant, so Lid off for the summer, =CAI from the brake duct mod, grille, AND the hood. winter, I'll install the lid, and remove the brake duct mod so I wont have to worry about water/ice/snow buildup.

I've got a Volant on my 2010 and love it! I've run against several Bwoody equipped Jeeps at the track now, and have yet to be beaten. You need to remove the front grill (like 7 snap connectors) and the snorkel fits in like a glove. I also recommend the 2nd snorkel mod. You can get the Spectre from Amazon for about $20. Makes it the only true "cold" air intake for the SRT8. Give it another try. It'll fit, it's just a little stubborn. Also you need to unbolt the recovery tank and flip it back and up out of the way.

Good luck whatever you decide!

Re: So i dont like my new VOLANT POS CAI!

cheers fellas, yeah i did all that was required. except removing my reservoir tank. i was able to get the HUGE air box housing in with out playing with my res.tank.. its just the feed line was in the way so i kinked it and placed it upwards out the way. after all said and done with the housing installed. the reservoir lead line was too short to go back into place- i was like another phucking corner here.... jeez.

let alone i removed the front grille as the directions said so.. the grilles duct didnt fit in for the life of me. and when i managed to tweak things around--it wasnt a flush fit. it had gaps everywhere (i wouldnt leave anything like that) everything else was a perfect fit when i test//pre-assembled it before removing my stock intake.

i think mine was a worped set. for real. shit was like OJ's glove in the 90's.

i dunno if i want to try it again, i think ill just send this one back to and get another one to see whats really good with this volant. i mean i want the enclosed box for a CAI- is why i got it. ill give it another go.

disclaimer: it didnt help that my brother was trying to help me but in reality was getting in my way like a shadow that wasnt necessary. i was quick to catch a temper.

lolz-

cheers fellas, ive long have calmed down by now.

Yeah I ran the recovery hose under the delivery tube, but thought it was too short and might rub through. So I went to the auto parts store and put a longer hose on it. But I had the original one on there for several months without any problems. But I understand your frustration. I thought this thing isn't made for a 2010, but others assured me the year models were all pretty much the same in that regard. I have some small gaps from the OEM snorkel as well, but it was like that on the OEM airbox too. You could always put a piece of rubber insulation around it if it bothers you. I've considered it myself.

wink
