You got quoted $6k for just a turbo? I'm guessing you meant a whole kit, with quality name brand components. I know a guy who lives out here and has a STS kit on his TBSS and another guy who had one on a jeep srt. They are shit. Both had the scavenger pump fail after a short time. They are made from crappy components and you pay premium money for them. You could have such a better kit made for the same price or less. Precision or Garrett turbo, garrett intercooler, tial bov and wastegate, custom tune.

STS kits are $6500, so technically the STS kit is more expensive. Oh and you don't normally see STS kits on "show" trucks.

They are still in business because of their own innovation and brand name recognition...They were first to market with a remote mount turbo...

Shows like that usually use whatever sponsors the show, etc. There is no real correlation between product use and reliability.

Re: STS turbo

STS kit are junk. You get what you pay for. They're not very efficient at all. I'd put either of our kits up against an STS kit any day of the week. Yes you're gonna spend about $2K more, but you'll get much higher quality components and it will actually make a tone more power. I'd challenge STS to our Jeep kit any day. Dyno or track.... psi to psi we'd smoke their kit.

Maybe some day when Stage 6 is rolling in major dough (like in 6 months or so) you all could get your turbo kits CARB legal/smog legal - that would be ideal for us Cali guys (i know sts does offer it but they are in Cali and you guys are on the opposite side of the USA)!!!

Until then I guess we'll just keep saving up, dreaming, and drooling!
