STS turbo

Have y'all looked at this?

Was watching trucks this morning and checked out the website. Easy install since its a bolt on kit.

I've also contacted them about making a bolt on for the 3.7L&4.7L...

They make one for the V6 wrangler, so why not those who go wheelin in the Grand Cherokee?! haha

If you can weld you can easily modify a 6.1 kit to work on the smaller motors.

The problem with these kits is that they use generally low grade parts. The oil pumps in particular are known for failing. For the price you pay you should get more for your money.

That being said, remote mounts do work fairly well, you just need to make sure you have a solid oiling system.

I asked a buddy and he said they will also, eventually, blow the seals on your engine. They force more air in I guess increasing the compression and can hurt the engine. Is that right?

No. You can blow the seals if you do not have proper ventilation, but you dont need to be turbocharged to do that...

your motor IS stock. you have bolt ons with a base tune. all of those boltons will come off for installing the turbo system anyhow.

If you can be responsible with the boost, and maintain solid AFR without detonating, yes, it will be fine.

Ive already mentioned this stuff in at least one other thread.

SCT should be able to do a 2 Bar Map program. If thats the case, you get a 2 bar MAP sensor to wire in, big fuel injectors, and have a Dodge SCT tuner rescale everything for a 2 bar Map. problem is 2 bar tuning with SCT is hit and miss and I dont think you can pass emissions with it because it will usually trigger a CEL. to pass you can simply swap injectors and map sensor and pass no problem.

The other way to do it is use SCT to set your spark map up to 1 bar (so you basically lock timing when you hit boost), but use it as a 1 bar map and then use slightly oversized injectors and an FMU to take care of your fueling. Youd have to run a check valve or something in front of the map sensor so it doesnt shit a brick when it sees positive pressure.

If I ever end up owning something like a Dakota or something that I cant tune with CMR, I would do the latter. Set it and forget it.

STS kits are garbage. They use no name turbos, knock off wastegates and bov's and copied oil pumps that are horrible. Honestly for the amount of money you would spend on one of these any competent fabrication shop should be able to make you one with quality components. As far as tuning is concerned, your truck should be able to pass emissions with a 2-bar map and larger injectors. The SRT's do it all the time with supercharger kits. Get a diablo predator or trinity and a competent tuner like Johan or Jerseyboy.

And if they are such crap lots, why are they still in business, and why would they even be on the show, trucks?
