and sound and fun and looks and women... don't forget that the women love a loud engine.

meh, bwoody. I'm shopping for a CAI too. From my research, the most popular ones are AFe, Volant & Bwoody. The only real difference is looks, I believe they all perform the same although a few guys with the Volant report better sound with the lid off. The volant is enclosed in the engine compartment. The AFe and bwoody are not. Also a couple of reports with the bwoody and puddles (hydro-locking) but you can use a dry-charger to avoid that.

From a price stand-point, the AFe and Volant can be found for under $300. The bwoody is just over $300 (unless someone's having a sale I missed to check).

Skip the Mopar CAI -- it's tube is metal and tends to heat soak easier in the summer.

hope that helps!

[I'm waiting for the Arrington CAI -- performed great on a Charger SRT8 at the track a few weeks back (like -.2) so since I'm stock, I'll test it out on my Jeep]

4" Bwoody with a Dry Charger cover for the filter is what I run. For normal driving in the rain my filter never even gets wet (I've checked it after driving in some good downpours). Only way I can see to have an issue is in some 10-12" or deeper water.

It is against the law to void a warranty on a product that the dealer sells as a modification unless he can explicitly point out the reason why that CAI caused the malfunction. Almost impossible to do for a CAI, unless a screw came out of the CAI and got injected or something.
It's called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act.

It also makes all those stupid warranty cards they ask you to fill out null and void. Just proof of purchase and MFR warranty when purchased.

I agree, I honestly don't believe there's more than a couple HP difference between any CAI really - I tried to research a lot before I bought mine and that's pretty much what I came up with. I had a Volant, then sold it and went with a 4" BWoody. The Volant is incredibly similar to the stock air intake, one has a round filter, one has a panel filter, the Volant sounded great though, and real mean with the top off. I love the BWoody, I notice the slightest, slightest bit of drop in acceleration between the two. The aFe is popular for good reason too though, it is proven to increase horsepower decently, I would've gone with it if not the BWoody. All CAIs help air intake, some are a little, and I stress, little bit better at it, so as stated above, it really comes down to visual preference in my opinion. And like DC said, I've driven through some pretty heavy rain and splashed through some puddles that have engulfed my truck and checked up on the filter and it was dry except for maybe a couple drops, you'd have to be hitting some serious mini-lakes to hydro-lock...on the same token, a couple of people have claimed that it happened to then, so something was different when it happened with them. You could also fabricate your own splash guard along the bottom though!

The BWoody tube is metal, too. If someone were that worried about it though, and didn't care much about looks, they could wrap the tube.

Plus that Arrington looks DOPE! :D That Carbon Fiber will look great under our hoods, especially for the guys that have the Carbon Fiber coil covers!
