I'm not a huge fan of the MB dipstick (personal preference). I like the one ekaz bought better (not sure on brand) but it has a bunch of hashmarks and you refer back to a chart based on temp to know the proper level.
The one I got is the OEM one from Miller

Re: Blue top solenoids

this may be a dumb question but if I had to replace shift solenoid C (3-4) does that mean I have to buy 2 of these or 1?

Re: Blue top solenoids

From the other site if you want to save some more money.

Just wanted to let you guys know that the best price I found was at parts.com ($144.90 each). FYI you will not find the part if you search via the Mercedes-Benz catalog on parts.com. Click on "Site Map", then "Part number Search" under the OEM Factory Catalogs column. Finally, enter the part# and "Mercedes-Benz" in the Select Make box and search.

Re: Blue top solenoids

Which is better the BB valve body or the blue top solenoid?I know that there are modifications that can be made to the valvebody that will improve it's performance besides just the solenoids. I know that they are right around the same price and just wanted to know which was worth spending the money on.

For around $300 shipped for the pair I ordered the blue tops.

I could be wrong, but I thought the BB valve body was significantly more?

I've been in Jeeps with both, I liked the Blue Tops better as they were firmer.

Also, it seems from people I have talked to each valve body is not the same. Some have flashing issues, some hit to hard, some downshift too hard. Bill's customer service is excellent though so don't think that I am bashing him he will get it worked out. BBVB = $600 so it is more than blue tops depending on where you buy them from.

Re: Blue top solenoids

Thanks for all the input. I want firm, quick shifts without the jerky down shifts that the blue tops get a bad rep for. I need something to help the trans last as long as possible with the Vortech, but still make it fun to drive. I think I will go for the bluetops.
