Do I need to extract the download before putting in on the USB?
Reading The Fine Instructions for downloading and installing the upgrade would be a good place to start.

I doubt if an 8 Gb USB would be an issue, as the instructions just note 4 Gb or larger.

The instructions are a bit unfortunate in that some tell you to download the update to the USB key instead of noting that you need to extract it so only the swdl.iso file is on the key--although they do note this later.

Will assume you are using the usb slot right under the nav screen...
never really tried using any of the other ones.

I went back through the tutorial on UConnects site again and it stated the drive needed to be NTFS to update. That is how I got the update to work. I did use the USB under the nav screen to update it.

I'm very well aware of how to verify drive formats. I can guarantee that I never tried it in exFAT. FAT32 did not work on my WK2.

That's interesting since I've done all of my upgrades on FAT32 drives, but I have an Overland with the 8.4AN and maybe that's different.

Re: '14 UConnect USB Issue

I've done all my updates, since '13, with a FAT32 formatted drive.
