'14 UConnect USB Issue

I just picked up a '14 Limited with the UConnect Nav system. I'm trying to update to the most recent version of the UConnect firmware. I've tried 2 different USB drives with nothing but the UConnect firmware on it; the UConnext will not read either. Both are FAT32 formatted.

Any ideas?

Re: '14 UConnect USB Issue

Make sure you are using the data USB. Some of them are for charging only. My 2011 will be different so check your owners manual here: Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - Brochures, manuals and literature

Re: '14 UConnect USB Issue

Both have been 8GB and PNY brand.

Do I need to extract the download before putting in on the USB?

I've only got 1 USB in the front of my '14.

Those sticks should work fine. Yes, you need to extract the file. It will be a swdl file.

Re: '14 UConnect USB Issue

I extracted the SWDL file to the USB and it still says "connect device" in the media section of the radio.

I guess I will just schedule the recall service for the radio and get the dealer to update the stupid thing.

Re: '14 UConnect USB Issue

I was able to get the update to take. The USB has to be formatted to NTFS.

Mine updates never needed NTFS.
Maybe you were exFAT which probably won't work. But Fat32 works too.
