2010 Mygig 430 (RBZ) vs 2011

I am looking to purchase a Mygig/Media Center 430 (RBZ) radio for my 2011 Grand Cherokee. After reading through these threads, I am hesitant to pull the trigger. I have a couple of questions that the members here could probably answer.

- Has the CAN BUS speed changed from low to high for 2011?

- Are the mounting brackets on the radio itself changed from side to top mount for 2011?

I can get a low speed or a high speed RBZ radio, but I am a little confused on the mounting scheme. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Kyle

OK, I removed the bezel around my radio and confirmed that the mounting scheme is top and bottom. Also, from everything I am reading on this forum, it is also high speed bus. Therefore, I think I have my questions answered. Now to find a MyGig that will work...

Re: 2010 Mygig 430 (RBZ) vs 2011

I ran several part numbers of radios on Ebay through my parts guy and he said none of them would work. Had to be a 2011 radio, if that is Really true I can't find out. Problem is that unless you want to drop $2200 on a 2011 radio, the Ebay radios usually wont allow you to return them. They typically run around $500-1,000 dollars. I'm going to wait for a little while, they will end up in the junk yard or something and the cost will be much lower then it is today.

The only other option that I can think of (and I may try) would be to buy a high speed (RBZ) and then make a mounting bracket that attaches to it to meet up with the mounting holes in the vehicle. That would mean removing the mounting brackets from the sides of the one that you buy.

Its not so easy. The bracket that attaches the radio to the vehicle, also attaches the touch screen to the radio itself (the bracket is attached to the screen). I recently performed a swap. Had a 2011 430 (no nav) and purchased a 2011 430N unit off ebay.

The problem was the 430N had the bracket that attaches to the vehicle with screws on the sides, not top and bottom. To get it to work I had to swap out the entire touchscreen/bracket from the 430 and connect it to the 430N. It was a pain in the ass.
