2012 overland owners, check your radios

Hi, slightly lifted off another post...so sorry for the duplication.

I have a new 2012 and was surprised that the available space for files is significantly less than the advertised space of the HD. During the discussion, i realized that all 2012 overlands, and my paperwork supports this, should have a 40g hdd, with 20g usable space. I believe that in late 2011 they changed from 30g HDD with 11g available to the 40/20.

My radio indicates that it has a total capacity of 11g (total capacity, not remaining capacity), i am wondering if my vehicle shipped with the 2011 radio, and not the 2012. I notified my service manager and will provide more detail when they get back to me.

Do any 2012 overland owners have this problem? (its listed as XREP on your build sheet).

Capacity on mine, as taken from the unit itself, is 11GB. I was under the impression that the balance is used by the system software.

Re: 2012 overland owners, check your radios

check out this thread:
I thought the 730N RHR has a 30GB Hard Drive???

At the end, Milous comments that they switched to 40g capacity/20g useable HDD in late 2011. My build sheet lists that i have the 40/20 system, yet i show the capacity at 11 (like you do). Check out your build sheet, if you have one. Perhaps i am missing something, but it looks to me that perhaps i have the wrong radio....not as obvious as our summit friends who got the wrong steering wheel, but it is peculiar.

Re: 2012 overland owners, check your radios

I don't have a build sheet. We have early build 2012's. They probably ran short of 40GB HDD's and used some 20GB units so as not to hold up production. I have over 1500 songs and a mess of photos on mine and over 7GB's left over. I'll never use up all that space so I won't worry about it. If you have a different radio swapped in by the dealer, who knows what you'll get.

Think my build date was later than all yours (delivered to dealer 11/30/11). I am at the office now but I can tell you when I first got it and was playing with everything I noticed it said something along the lines of 20gb.

Re: 2012 overland owners, check your radios

My 2012 Overland is an October/November 2011 build and shows a HDD total capacity of just over 20 GB, of which almost all is free.

Re: 2012 overland owners, check your radios

I've put on a few pictures, and loaded on about 30 CD's so far.
MY RHR shows about 2 MB used out of 11 MB total available.

Re: 2012 overland owners, check your radios

Not that I'll ever fill it, but I was happy to see that I have the 20GB. Mine was built 11/11 according to the door sticker.

It's the free space we were talking about. Mine is 20 but only 11 is available to add to.
