Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

Sorry about that! I just now got back to the house after finding out I need to go to work this weekend too...so I totally forgot to take the pictures. I will try for the morning before I head in.

No worries. I still have a week and a half before the install.

Added some of the gear you're looking at. To say I'm pleased would be an understatement. The sub control knob went under the dash on mine- I like the access and it's not really noticeable. My info here:

Very nice setup. I'll be into it for a bit more money, but I'm having them install my old nav unit and tie it into the existing steering wheel controls, plus adding the Focal's to the rear.

Glad to hear you like it. I don't think your price was bad at all.

Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

UPDATE: I am fine with it located in the center console. I have adjusted the stereo enough to get an acceptable amount of bass for most music so I do not need to adjust as much as I thought I would.

Now...I wonder how long I can go before upgrading the front speakers....

Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

Thanks for the photos and the update.

I'm still torn between ease of covering up the hole in case I trade the Jeep in the future vs. having the knob easily accessible. I listen to a variety of music, some of which is rather bass heavy, and when I play it loud I like to be able to fine tune it pretty easily.

I only live about 5 miles from JustForJeeps, so I may swing by there tomorrow and see how much a couple different replacent bezels are in case I go that route (more easily accessible/harder to conceal in the future).

I'll also be using an Alpine RUX-Knob to be able to adjust the subwoofer volume independent of the radio controls. We'll find a handy place to mount this up front without being too obvious:

i would luv to get this for the durango the alpine system sucks do u have a link to see if one is made for the d

Sure, just google "2011 Dodge Durango" and click on the first link that comes up.

The Rux-Knob is specifically designed for the alpine PDX and MDX amps because of the connectors it uses. There are several different subwoofer control knobs out there that use RCA connections. They don't actually adjust the bass level, instead they adjust the signal level going to the subwoofer channel. If your subwoofer amp is underpowered or your subwoofer is less than adequate, then the knob won't help. It just allows you to control the output of the sub without effecting the rest of the system.

Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

I just stopped by the install shop yesterday and have decided to install the subwoofer control knob in the radio bezel if it will fit. I picked up a replacement bezel at a great price, so I can always go back to stock in the future.

The following locations are in order of my preference:
