Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

Sorry, I was out of the country for a few days and missed this.

This is the first install that I didn't do myself, and I haven't pulled the door panels off, so I'm not sure which adapter was used. I had just had a biceps tendon repair when I wanted to do this, so I let my local shop handle the install, so I don't know all the details off hand.

Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

One update to this thread is that I ended up blowing the Stealthbox. I wasn't even pushing it that hard at the time and it just started to flutter. I brought it back to the shop that did the install, and they sent it back to JL Audio under warranty. Initially the shop thought it was the cone, but when they pulled the sub they suspected the voice coil might be the culprit.

JL Audio has had it for 5 or 6 weeks now and bounced it around from department to department with a long trail of red tape attached. Hopefully I'll have the replacement in the next couple of weeks, but I'm not impressed with their customer service at this point.

Luckily I had 12" Pioneer in a small box that I built for my wife's old TT, so I have been running that for the time being. 6+ weeks without a sub is a bit excessive from my point of view. I'll update again once this is resolved.

The stealthbox is just way too expensive for what you get. It's too bad you can't buy it without the sub as I'd prefer to use a different sub.

Yeah, I actually went to their site to see if there was a better sub that I could buy to replace the 10W3v3-2 with, and that's when I saw that the sub was under warranty for 2 years from date of purchase.

If I blow the replacement, I'll look into a better sub. The JL is decent, but I went from two 12's in my last SUV to one 10" in the Jeep. If I have to replace it again, I may have another box custom built on the driver's side to match the Stealthbox, and upgrade both subs at the same time.

Re: 2012 WK2 Stereo Overhaul

What would be a better sub to put in the stealthbox enclosure?
