Re: 2014 8" nav into 2011+ models

Right for the turn signals. Someone had posted on here that they found a 3157 bulb with a built in resistor. Waiting to hear back.

I imagine the 2014 lights will look similar to the ford SUV lights, but maybe in a solid bar instead of individual LEDs.

Re: 2014 8" nav into 2011+ models

Adding the LED Taillights should be easy for anyone with a basic background in electrical circuits, provided they fit and didn't do something like change the rear fenders and tailgate. If so, it'd be easier and more cost effective to have a set of custom LED taillights made (there's several forums with people who will offer this service).

The radio remains to be seen. It will all come down to exactly how different "Powernet" is, and where it's used. I don't know much about it, so I can't really comment on it. What would be intriguing is if the 8.4N out of the Charger could be retrofitted - that wouldn't surprise me in the least and it looks like there's plenty of room for the screen. In fact, it looks like the GC was designed to get the 8.4N from the beginning, and it was cut from the original production runs, likely to save money and make people want to upgrade when they brought out the refreshed version 2.5 years later.

If you're mainly after the larger screen, tablet PC installs into the dash of a car have become quite the thing to do lately, I'm sure you could install something into the dash to use in place of a radio fairly easily. Newer versions of Android also support USB input devices, so you could in theory retain your steering wheel control functionality as well.

Personally, I'm not too worried about it. My 430N works well, and I have no issues with the screen size. When I compared it to the 8.4N, it did everything that the 8.4N did minus the car control stuff I'd never use, with only a slightly smaller screen. I'll probably replace my Jeep with something else before the 2014s are on the road anyways, so not too worried.

If you really want a larger screen, Alpine has an 8" double DIN now, I'm sure you could find a shop that could mold the dash piece to fit it easily enough.

Funny thing about the 2014s, everyone was all clamoring about how the '14s would be here on the road early '13. It's now the end of the year and we still haven't seen an official released picture of it. It's probably going to be mid to late 2013 before they're out, pretty much when you would expect to see them.

It's not uncommon that vehicles are made available the moment they are introduced on auto-shows. Jeep is actually doing their job by holding back any pictures - and it seems to work quite well.

I'm confident that the announced timelines will be met and that we will see MY14s on the road well ahead of late 2013.

They'll definitely be on the road in "early '13".

Following history, official images are not released until very close to production, or even after production starts. You won't have long to wait .

2013 order banks are closed*, would they close the banks 6-9 months before the next model year comes out?

* This evidence in and of itself is 100% proof that the new models are just around the corner.

By sooner than mid-2013 there will be tons of owners on here who will have racked up many many thousands of miles on their '14s.

By late 2013 you will be reading threads discussing the features of the 2015 Grand Cherokee.

That information has been available for some time, for example here. There is no backward compatibility.

Bluetooth HID devices, yes. But I've yet to see an Android device with a USB host port, and I've been looking -- I want one to use with thumb drives. Among the many problems involved is that the port must supply 2.5 watts of power. That's tough to do from a battery-operated device.

Steering wheel control is communicated over a CAN bus, which bears no resemblance to USB.

Do you guys think it will be easy to swap in the 2014 nav / center stack setup right into a 12. One would hope they leave all the connectors the same. The whole piece comes out fairly quick if a swap was possible
........i think the upgrade to the new uconnect are possible, its ever a high speed canbus, with "same" high speed messages, an this are the important.

only the connectors are diffrent but this are easy.....but this well work only in high speed can cars, wk2 not in the wk1.

look here some pics from the new uconnect.
