I just called the dealer parts dept. to ask how much. He said there was no B/U camera for the 2015, only the 2014. I then gave him the part number from ALL Mopar Parts.com. He was surprised and then he was able to find it. Now I have to wait for a call back because no one knows what to charge for install. We are not off to a good start here. Wish me luck.

Keep us updated. I'm curious to hear the price ranges for install.

That's odd, My 2014 altitude came with the backup sensors and the backup camera. I figured this was standard

Re: 2014 ALTITUDE Back Up Camera Kit Mopar Item #82213884AB INSTALLED

Ok, so I just bought the camera- $335.00 plus tax. Service came to the conclusion that the install will be $495.00 plus tax. So basically a $1000 with tax total. I inquired about activating the Nav.- that's another $600. Now that $495 for install does not include them painting the piece they need to replace that comes with camera attached. But here is my thing- I would rather them drill a hole into the existing piece that has the factory paint. I don't know how the new part freshly painted from their body shop is going to look or how well it will last over time. They aren't sure they want to drill the original part.

So I go back Saturday for install. I'll know more then. This is a lot more of a pain than it needs to be. Jeep should of thought this through and offered at least a wireless option.

A much simpler and complete kit is available at Crutchfield:

Crux RVCCH-75CC Backup Camera System Add a rear-view camera to your factory radio in 2014-up Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles at Crutchfield.com

Wow. First of all how did you miss the rear backup as an option for the 15' Altitudes?

Second, did you even read through the original post I made? You can easily remove "your fascia trim" and instal it on the new kit (no need to use non painted one).

Third, you should really shop around to other service departments to get install quotes. It will probably vary depending on the service team and their experience.

Jeep did think this through, a little late, which was why you can now add the rear camera as an upgrade option.

Regardless, good luck and let us know what happens.

Wireless is great, until it is not... then it is annoying crap. There is only so much spectrum.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: 2014 ALTITUDE Back Up Camera Kit Mopar Item #82213884AB INSTALLED

This is fantastic, thanks! I got my MY14 Altitude at the end of June last summer and had the backup camera and sensors that were available then installed onto my Grand Cherokee when I bought it. I've had stuttering issues with my camera, a poor resolution generally, and no moving lines. I saw MOFSTEEL's build with what looked like the factory installed moving lines etc., and then found this, so I think I'm going to have my backup camera replaced with this one. Might be expensive though, since I imagine the harness probably has to be rewired. It's got to be worth it though; my camera is barely useful now.

Thanks for putting this up!

$1000 OMG!!!

To anyone in Central Florida who needs this done, please contact me.

I've installed it in a couple WK2 and mine's. And my install is as OEM as it get. I believe my install is cleaner than some dealer techs.

Re: 2014 ALTITUDE Back Up Camera Kit Mopar Item #82213884AB INSTALLED

So today was supposed to be the install date of the back-up camera. Sadly, it's not. Dealership would not separate camera from the backplate that ships (and needs to be painted) to use my already painted part. That requires the part to go to the bodyshop to be painted. That wasn't part of the original quote. I'm not paying $1500 for this, plus I'm not having something painted that will probably fade and is not factory sprayed.

All is not lost. Went to a shop that will install a camera that integrates with the 8.4" head unit. Preliminary quote is $600. I find out more details on Monday when he verifies parts and PACS interface.

Went this route. Going to install this week. Looks pretty straight forward. Kit appears to be well made. Payed less then $400 for it.
