For me it's smaller and won't take up space in that little cubby leaving me space to put whatever in there.

Re: 2014 Audio Impressions... Any out there?

I can tell you from my experience. 2011 alpine sounded good just lacked good bass. My new 2014 Summit with the HK is completely different and I'm not sure i like it. Boomy and treble is high tinny sounding. Also Sirius Sounds like complete crap now compared to my 2011 Overland. I also wish they would have offered a feel equalizer and subwoofer control. It needs it badly. For now I guess I just have to get us to it.

How does the HD radio sound compared to Sirius? In a test drive I thought the HD had a much better sound than Sirius.

Re: 2014 Audio Impressions... Any out there?

HD is nice and the fm is actually louder than Sirius. I'm still trying to fine tune things. It seems you need all the levels on the equalizer in the negitive direction which is strange to think. I wish they gave us an actually frequency equalizer. That would help fine tune things better. Also thinking the speakers need to break in a little which also might help. I will keep you posted.

Re: 2014 Audio Impressions... Any out there?

I was debating with the dealer about getting the CD player.. I hated to give up the room in the console. He said I can just transfer all my CDs to the JGC and not have to even carry them with me anymore! He was no help on HOW to do that! I am no genius when it comes to this..I still have albums and cassettes!! HELP.....

No memory in the '14 unit to transfer music to, but you can transfer to a usb stick or a sd card and plug it in. There's quite a lengthy discussion on here somewhere abut it. Search sd card.

First, do you have a Computer at home ? If so:

(1) Put a CD in your computer and simply copy the CD to your computer's hard drive. Should only take a matter of seconds.

(2) Repeat #1 above for all the CD's you have. (To give you an idea, I copied some or all of 500 CD's to my home computer and had 2,500 songs).

(3) Copy some or all of these songs from your home computer back to a USB Drive or a SD Memory Card (like you use in a camera). Both a Very Cheap to buy and your Jeep will play either of these.

(4) Now, instead of putting in just "1" CD in your Center Console, you instead plug in the USB Drive or the SD Memory Card in the reader slot and now instead of picking from just the 10 or 12 songs on the CD, you can pick from the 2,500 songs !! They all show on the Screen and you can pick a certain song, play a full CD, or play random songs. It's Great !!

Thus, NO REASON to need a CD Player !!

Hope this helps and sorry if it's too simplistic, but you asked for some help !!

Tom

The only issue is not all computers have a sd card reader, you'll need that to transfer the songs from the windows media player etc...

Not on the 2014 models. SD card or USB. You can get the optional CD player but that takes up room in the console
