Looking forward to seeing what you think about the JL stealth setup...I almost bought one myself..but then found this one

If it's the custom box the other gentleman provided a link for I would have many concerns. Based on the photos on his listing it shows that significant cutting of metal is required. I'm all for big sound but never at the expense of reducing the structural integrity of my vehicle. Additionally, I don't know that there is enough cubic inches of space to support two 10" subs in that location... At least not any quality subs I'm aware of. Compare his photos to mine and you will see what I'm referring to.

Yeah I'm not cutting into anything either. I'm just trying to figure out what I'll need besides the stealthbox to go with the set up. What kind d if amp and anything else needed. Any info would be great!

Re: 2014 GC Limited - Sub Upgrade - JL Stealthbox

yes...thats the box I got...it actually fits in the factory location without having to cut any structural metal...or messing with the structural integrity..the best part is that I got 2 Illusion audio subs with it and they kick AS$

I tested the stuff out and it sounds great...but I haven't had time to bring it to a professional installer to get it installed cleanly..

I think the JL Stealthbox is definitely a great way to go though...i would have gotten one myself if I didn't find this one I have..you just need a decent monoblock amp/DSP or Crossover/ and the sub

Hey ajag,

I don't want to be the negative person here...but I assure you there is no way that box with two 10" subs is going to fit in the same space as the factory box. The stealth box uses every spare inch of airspace in there and that box is significantly deeper. The only way for that to fit is to cut into the metal panel that can be seen in the first photo of my post.

Now take a look at how he had your box installed... It's setting almost flush with that panel...
ImageUploadedByJeepGarage1442531129.107762.jpg

After you review the depth of that box... You can clearly see that the rear metal structural material behind it was cut into in order for it to fit. I would strongly urge you to at least consult an engineer before cutting into that panel.

Another thing to consider here is that the "beauty panel" that comes stock is just thin card board panel with carpet attached. Without the factory sub there to support it structurally... It will rattle like crazy in front of duel subs with nothing there to support it.

I hope this information is helpful to you, I only mean to help...not be a negative Nancy on you.

Re: 2014 GC Limited - Sub Upgrade - JL Stealthbox

What is the LC2i for? I've had JL subs in my last couple vehicles and liked them. Well, one install I didn't like but that's a different story.

Another question- does the sub response flatten out or stop increasing at a certain volume level?

Re: 2014 GC Limited - Sub Upgrade - JL Stealthbox

The LC2i is the device that takes the line level subwoofer signal and converts it to low level RCA input (.1) level for the new amp. It also does a great job of cleaning the signal going in for amplification / reproduction

No, the factory sub enclosure (injection molded plastic) was fully removed. The factory sub is only an 8' and my understanding is its only 80 watts. The front door 6X9s produce as much or more bass than the factory sub does. Replacing it with the stealth box with JL 10w3 provides a ton of low end bass pushed by a 600 watt mono amp. This allowed me to adjust down the bass level on EQ to below 0. The result was cleaner sound from all mid range speakers all the way to volume level 35 (near max) and the new sub pounds deep and hard. You can literally feel the bass in your seat... Tight, crisp and low just as you should. I could not be more pleased with the amount of bass this unit puts out without the sacrifice of cargo room. My advice to all thinking of doing this upgrade... Be sure to add the dynomat... It is worth every penny!!!

I have the amp control knob installed up front so that sound adjustments can be made when needed. That being said, I don't feel the sub response flattens out... The higher the volume the bigger the boom

Re: 2014 GC Limited - Sub Upgrade - JL Stealthbox

Very Nice!!

Considering that route myself. I have a '15 High Altitude and I am very happy with the Harman system with the exception of the "subwoofer". Its not tight on the mid bass and muddy/weak on the low bass.

If the Harman "subwoofer" behaved like the Bazooka bass tubes, you could turn down the bass at the head unit (taking bass from the mid-hi speakers) and have a pleasant sounding system. Boomy around 45hz, but better than what is there now.
