2013 RAMs had 8.4AN/RA4 so i believe they are stuck the same way as we are.

2013 CHRYSLER 300 had 8.4N/RB5 that was different from ours and much easier to update as the same was for earlier Dodge Chargers/ Journeys with 8.4 systems.

From 2015 all the cars comes with 8.4AN/RA4 including (charger/challenger/300) Dart and Journey are still with 8.4N/RB5

I am pretty sure that some years/models received updates directly from Garmin. I have seen map update sites that were Garmin, that redirected to Chrysler for payment and back to Garmin for the actual map update. May have been before the Fiat purchase. What a tangled web they've weaved.

That's correct, all those 8.4N/RB5 can be still updated with Garmin maps.

I kind of like your Facebook idea.
Once enough complaints show up there, a tip to some reporter might get their attention if if shows up on CNN or similar.

Different systems...but the same map source. The most recent map update for my MY12 with the 730N was last June and required that the firmware was at 2.600. (A firmware CD was actually included in the package from HERE to insure that got done first for folks who bought the update.

Best for now.
the impression i got from the RAX thread is the software is totally new on the 15's but it will run on the 14's with the exception of a driver missing for the sd card/usb/audio ports which have a different assembly/part for the 15's that requires the new driver. (on the 14 durango at least that whole assembly appears just to be a usb device as it connects via a mini-usb cable)

We've confirmed the 15 maps are a newer breed? If so we can see if Customtronix (the RAX folks) can port those to the 14's.

Magnus, from customtronix, said they got the 15 software to work on the 14's. Didn't say if they used the whole 15 image (including the maps) or left the 14 maps on there to do it.

(PS magnus has stated that- despite being different part numbers as others have pointed out- the 14 and 15 hardware is 'the exact same' but he's never really gotten specific if that was just the CPU and main chips he was talking about or if he meant everything down to the memory, components, circuit board layouts, etc)

The 2013 rams were not the older 730 systems they were the 8.4 that the jeep got they got them a model year earlier than we did

The initial bids for HERE are due in by the end of this week. I wonder what happens if no companies submit a bid

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

just because a business unit is up for sale doesn't mean the owner or even the business unit is not profitable.

from one of the articles linked:
Quote:
Nokia Chief Executive Rajeev Suri told a news conference last Friday that if Nokia were to sell its HERE business, they were not being a forced seller.
companies sell profitable units all the time because they don't feel like being in that business anymore. It's not crazy that nokia, a cell phone equipment manufacturer, is dumping a mapping business even if it is profitable as it's not "core" to what they do. Apparently 90% of their sales come from selling cell tower gear- so the maps bit is minor. Particularly since they need 16 BILLION dollars to complete their purchase of Alcatel Lucent. (which does make cell phone gear). They also apparently decided to not just sell tower gear but get back into the headset business which they recently sold to MS- it's not like it's going to be cheap to jump back in to that business again. So could be they just need cash and they think HERE is a good thing to sell at the moment

(also could very well be that HERE is a money loser- but my point is in the absence of information saying that there is no reason to jump to that conclusion just because they are for sale. Do we have a source that says it's not making money?)

I can't find mention of if HERE is a money loser or money winner. All i see is their revenue is up ~15% year over year:

Quote:
Nokia also owns a digital mapping and location service unit called HERE. Berlin-based HERE’s quarterly revenue rose to €292 million from €255 million in the year-earlier period owing to greater demand from auto makers, Mr. Suri said.
source:
Nokia Notches Up Better-Than-Expected Profit - WSJ

I'm not a big stock guy- but i'd guess we could figure if a sale for 3 billion on quarterly revenue of ~300 million is the price you'd pay for a money loser or a money winner. Anyone know how to factor that out?

there quarterly invensotr presentation is found here:
http://company.nokia.com/sites/defau...entation_0.pdf and looks like Here makes a ~20 million Euro "operating profit" a quarter....
