HERE is hardly profitable.

"According to Nokia's own financials, the HERE Maps assets were only worth $2.15 billion last year. The vision had sales of $980 million in 2014, but an operating loss of $1.34 billion." - source Bloomberg

Well the map update page for 2014 GC changed from "your map is current" to "product not found" maybe they have started to feel stupid saying your map is current

Greetings,

It was not my idea. I started out with the good old US Postal service.

Between the 2 of them, it should make some waves.

Best for now.

(on the 14 durango at least that whole assembly appears just to be a usb device as it connects via a mini-usb cable)

We've confirmed the 15 maps are a newer breed? If so we can see if Customtronix (the RAX folks) can port those to the 14's.

Magnus, from customtronix, said they got the 15 software to work on the 14's. Didn't say if they used the whole 15 image (including the maps) or left the 14 maps on there to do it.

(PS magnus has stated that- despite being different part numbers as others have pointed out- the 14 and 15 hardware is 'the exact same' but he's never really gotten specific if that was just the CPU and main chips he was talking about or if he meant everything down to the memory, components, circuit board layouts, etc)
Greetings,

Great information. I completely forgot about them since I gave up on the Uconnect when went to aftermarket. I would like to know if the chip sets are the same or not for the 14 & 15. Also, the storage capacity.

I think their was another company also doing the same thing which I came across on eBay during my research phase.

In any event, if Magnus could find a solution that would help a great many people here. Hopefully, either Nokia or somebody can continue with the HERE maps.

Best for now.

Sounds more like they've disavowed any knowledge of our existence.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I just checked the HERE site to see if a map update was available for the 2014 Grand Cherokee. Now the site responds with "Product Not Found. The product you requested, could not be located".

yes I think you are right jacko that is probably more accurate.

made me laugh the other day that mapfactor the freebee that I use on my phone that makes it a navigation device has started prompting so frequently for map database updates that I turned the auto update off because I don't want to do a 2GB updated so frequently every few weeks lol. so the freebbees are pushing multi GB updates over the air extremely frequently but the expensive in dash systems cant even manage it at the 3 year mark. makes you want to laugh or maybe cry

Get the not found message for the 2014 and 2015 vehicles I checked. Appears to be only the 8.4AN.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

This is really a crapper! Here we are, with beautiful 1-2 year old vehicles, and the nav system has become obsolete. This sucks. I may be nuts, but I'd be more than willing to pay four figures to have the dealer install a compatible next gen system in my WK2. Chrysler should at least owe us that. Especially if they like customer retention. I own two Jeeps right now, but I'm only loyal to companies that are loyal to their customers.

Greetings,

If Customtronix, can figure out a solution, it might me cheaper to do it from them. Time will tell.

Best for now.
