Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

When Jeep's new Uconnect platform is introduced in a year or two, and we find it's not compatible with the electronics architecture of our WK2s, and no third party in-dash units will give us the functionality we want, it will be obvious that we are screwed, and FCA couldn't care less. We'll be mounting our Garmins to the dash, and when it comes time for vehicle replacement, the bad taste in our mouths will have many of us looking elsewhere. And FCA couldn't care less.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

It's obvious by looking at the current situation that we won't see any map updates soon. Those f***ers are broke and nobody can force them or whoever buys them to release an update asap. Like someone previously said, other platforms will have priority.
Best ( will never happen probably) would be for Chrysler to come up with a solution ( either a module that will that connect crap out of the HU or SMTH else) that will allow us to change the HU with an aftermarket one.
First step would be for them to admit the problem ofc.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

We can only dream that some third party might develop a way for us to either update the existing database, or perhaps replace it, with an altogether new map database.

Magnus. Can you work work your software magic once again?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

The easiest, least costly and most effective way to get reliable navigation is to buy a $150 standalone unit with free lifetime updates and traffic. The only thing you lose is your initial purchase price for the Jeep NAV and the use of a UConnect soft button. Then mount it with a Neutron shielded magnetic mount and drive off into the sunset.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

The problem is any stand alone unit loses all of the system integration that attracted me to Jeep's Uconnect in the first place. Every bit of tech has a lifespan, but this short of a lifespan in such a complicated system is just ludicrous. Chrysler/FCA owes us, and the sooner they admit it, the better off they will be in the long run.

The best thing we can do is continue to complain through every avenue possible. Email, snailmail, facbook and spread the word get as many people as possible to complain and elevate to supervisors. The greater the number of complaints the more likely it will start to get attention.

Greetings,

At today's NYC Jeep Meet, I put the word out and ask our fellow members to join our cause. Even those who leased the Jeep are concerned. As the word spreads, sooner or later reality will have be dealt with by FCA. If anybody is attending a regional meet in the near future, spread the word at the meet.

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I agree with everything said and FCA/Chrysler/Jeep needs to have their feet held to the fire; just saying, if you need accurate maps there is an inexpensive option readily available. And if you go with a Garmin, it looks and feels just like the in-dash, only better and with more features and options.

In addition to the letter writing, complain loudly to your dealer. In front of customers if possible, but be nice, it's not their fault. They have paths of communication that we do not. I have also been sending emails to the independents that do the road tests and report on things automotive. The more the merrier.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Well, after contacting Chrysler Customer Assistance again, for the second time this month, I received this reply, in part:

"Our records show that you have contacted us by email on the first of
April and we have addressed your concern and had stated that there are
no map updates available on your vehicle. We have updated your file to
reflect the latest information you provided in the email message.

We thank you for your recent email, although it does not contain any
information that would cause a change in the previous decision.

After thoroughly reviewing your request and the files on this matter, we
respectfully concur with the decision rendered by our Customer Service
Representative."

So much for Chrysler Customer Assistance.

At the dealer today and asked about map updates. They said contact HERE. I said very loud in front of 3 customers and 1 sales person, are you kidding me, you contact HERE or better still upper management. I proceeded to clue them all in on the status. They (service and sales) ,did not know of any issues, thus the root of the problem or at least a significant component of the problem.
I asked, please please investigate and get back to me. The end.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Greetings,

It would be nice if FCA/Jeep issues a communication to address their plans. Even if they do not give a date, at least they are showing that they are top of the situation. I am sure their are other factors they have to address before they can issue a preliminary date.

At this point I would not read into Willx post regarding the problems that FCA/Jeep are encountering. It is more advantageous to keep the pressure on FCA/Jeep with current campaign of letter writing and Facebook. This way they get the message that we are not disappearing.

Best for now.
