Greetings,

I agree totally.

Is their any way that this thread be moved into the STICKY SECTION?

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Here in South Australia I have found myself directed numerous times by the Jeep maps to turn down roads that are now one way or blocked off.

I have also on two occasions found myself driving along roads the Jeep maps insist don't exist - I'm apparently driving in the middle of nowhere.

But last weekend was the worst. We have a monstrous roundabout here in Adelaide that has caused a mindboggling number of accidents over the years - it is massive and has so many roads coming off it it's not funny. So, years ago, a simple solution was found that eliminated all the other solutions such as underpasses - a dual-roundabout system. Works an absolute treat.

So, last weekend I head through the first roundabout and am now approaching the second roundabout. As you'll see in this photograph the Jeep maps instead think I am exiting the first (and only) one and is visually and verbally instructing me to now drive directly into a building on my right.

So either the Jeep maps are loaded with data that tell it the GC can withstand that impact, or this map data is becoming so old it is now dangerous and needs ramming very firmly up someone's ass...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Greetings,

Maybe this is why FCA is taking it's time thinking on how to handle this:

Navi, CarPlay/Android Auto in Low Demand: JD Power | ceoutlook.com

It is hard believe that FCA is think in these terms. Heck, Ford is thinking forward.

Ford details CarPlay integration with SYNC infotainment system

At this point anything is possible which why the pressure must be maintained or the update will never happen.

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

It's certainly easy to understand why in-dash navigation isn't popular. The implementation sucks. Even if the software is great, and I think the Uconnect software is extremely serviceable, the system is a fail if the map data is outdated, very expensive to update, or in our case, just not available. In-dash navigation, with the voice control integrated, and the large, easy to read screen in our Jeeps is much better than a Garmin stuck to the dashboard. If FCA could only find a reasonable and economical way to keep the data up to date, even once a year or so, it would be a huge win, and well worth the cost. Alas, I fear this is not to be.

these level people dont usually reply themselves to emails like we'd send but their admin will be sure the right person replies to get us cooled off...

also notice it's just first.last@chrysler.com so pick whatever name(s) you want and fire away.

I realize its somewhat dated and probably is now @fca.com or something but usually they redirect to the new address for years. So i'm sure serg's admin team is going to get an email to the above.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

When sending hard copy mail to any of the high level people one suggestion is to also label it "private and confidential" or "eyes only". may help it get past some of the lower level filters and avoid being redirected back to the mindless robotic customer service roadblock division.

So much for Chrysler Customer Assistance.
As Andy Dufresne said in "The Shawshank Redemption", now I'm going to send them TWO letters a week.

In other words, for every response you get back saying stop contacting us, send two messages back about the matter.

I suspect you are tongue in cheek, but can you imagine how quickly this might be resolved if there was a slow news week and this hit the prime time specials?

I had suggested making some noise on facebook to new potential buyers that there are no map updates available ever. All you need to do is get people talking and social media is better at that than the news

I hope I'm not dumb enough to do this, but with these outdated maps, something bad will eventually happen to someone.

Cadillac had to recall the Que system in the beginning days for directing people to drive the wrong way on the interstate and backwards on onramps!

It has a name, 'Death by GPS', do a search on it. There have been quite a few incidents where common sense was riding in the trunk.
