Sadly, it's probably a good assumption.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I don't think that the MY16/17 minor refresh will be changing any dimensions like this...it's the same platform. But I certainly do hope that there is a different system implemented that has the map support we all expect from a premium solution.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Greetings,

I do believe it will be something better. Using Ford's MySync 3 as example, Uconnect has lot of catching up to. In fact, my that time, it could be up to MySync 4. As for navigation, the slow tread now in the auto industry is to give a simple fixed GPS system and a smartphone app connection if they are not implementing CarPlay or Android Auto.

In any event, if we do not keep on top of the Uconnect division of FCA, anything that should happen might not happen.

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I have the 4Q2012 map database. What doesn't make much sense is that those 2014 owners that have a 2Q2012 map database cannot update to 4Q2012 even though both versions have been installed in the 2014 vehicles. Doubt if the maps would be much different, but the systems are the same.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

This issue is exactly why satellite maps need to use a common file format so you can buy maps from any provider and install them on your device regardless of whether the manufacturer is even still in business.

Further, there's no excuse for any GPS to not be able to run maps off a memory card if there isn't enough internal storage. All the system would need to do is keep regional maps in the internal memory for fastest processing during navigation.

Agreed! That was my question. My brand new 15' has 4q2013 so I would assume the 14' models could upgrade.

That is not so clear as there are reported differences between the 14 and 15 MY, but the same MY begs an explanation.

All the same type of data.... Also noted the 2 versions for 2014 and there are already 2 for 2015.

Also... Can someone tell me where they noted the new radios for the 2016? or that there will be a change in the radios?

I mean the RA Series is going strong, they switched the 300s to them from the RE Series so there is going to many times the number of NAV radios from an RA Series on the road than anything else. Think about it ALL RA3 and RA4 (all 8.4inch radios) are NAV capable... They aren't just abandoning this platform.

I think they are, as far as updating maps goes. And that's a fair part of the ownership experience. At least, that's the impression they're sending to us. I sincerely hope I'll have to apologize to FCA for my pessimism on this matter sooner, rather than later, or never.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Agree, at the 3 year mark on the 2Q2012s I already feel abandoned. The last report from someone above from HERE was that it wasn't going to be until late 2015 for map updates. They have missed the last 4 dates they provided so we will be lucky if they even make that date.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I figured I'd inquire about the "Product not found" response on Here's website last week.

Received the following reply a few minutes ago -

" Thank you for inquiring about HERE Maps. The release date of the update for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is scheduled for summer of 2015, subject to change.

To check the availability of new map updates for your vehicle, please continue to visit HERE navigation - Update your sat nav with the latest HERE maps. periodically. Once available, the update may be purchased at this site.

If you need additional assistance, please send us your feedback by replying to this email.

Kind regards,

Sounds like HERE is telling some end of 2015 and some summer 2015. I dont think they have a clue and depending on the rep you get they throw out a different wild guess and why they have missed the last 4 dates provided. Still keep asking and complaining, the more kicking and screaming to FCA and HERE the better.
