The newer 2015s do have newer maps, I don't know how new but I know they are newer than the 2Q 2012 maps that my 2014 has. Look under the information tab on your NAV it will tell you the date of your maps.

Well, although a bit drastic, I guess we could all go drive off demolished bridges, then sue.

They may believe it is a small niche now but as we are hitting the 3 year mark now I think the angry niche is going to start growing more quickly

lol yeah true I was thinking more for abandoning support of a brand new product that people paid thousands for. I think there is a reasonable expectation that map support should be there for at least some amount of time after purchase. maybe not 10 years but we should be able to expect at least a few years of support.

Send an email to Jeep with the same exact words.

Best for now.

Greetings,

The truth with the GPS offered by Jeep since 2011, IMHO, has alway been a problem. At least you could get an map update. Those who wanted, switched to an aftermarket unit if they were not happy.

Why they put the Uconnect together with Headunit is beyond me for the 2014+. There are so many aftermarket HU on the market that far exceeds what Jeep offers. That is not those that are geared to CarPlay or Android Auto.

I guess they think an update is a 2017+ vehicle. They are still living in the disposable income era of thinking. Did they forget they were all most dead in the water?

They have to understand that a map update is just as important as the regular schedule maintenance.

Best for now.

And you probably won't. I guess we're in the twilight zone with this friggin map updates. Ten years from now if you go check for map updates you'll get the same:

"Our records indicate you have the most recent map update for your vehicle. Please check back soon for a map update product."

Agree if you get anything it will be a caned response blaming HERE and washing their hands of it. But glad you took the time to contact them every complaint is good and just adds to the numbers. Its not a problem unless people complain about it so hit jeep hard and hit them often with it.

Greetings,

In reality, this is the correct answer to get from Jeep. The more of the same response could create the backfire against Jeep. The last thing they want is bad publicity hitting the media.

In a separate thread, everybody posts their response and the received email. Then somebody within jeepgarge.org can than take all those 100's of responses and delivery them to the VP of quality control.

Yea, it is a small niche, but sometimes small niches can make a difference.

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I had posted this in another similar thread. I read in another forum that the issue HERE is having with the NAV updates for the 2014's is a lack of memory capacity in the unit. The map data has grown to such a size that it cannot be loaded. Makes sense, but the only solution I see if this is actually the case is a hardware upgrade from Jeep or adding the capability to store the maps on external memory. I doubt either will happen. Hoping this is not the case, but with little details on the problem from HERE or Jeep, it sure seems likely.
