Probably important to be sure you have the doors closed when you do this, right? Otherwise the headunit turns off immediately I thought?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

IMHO, the best option would be similar to what Google Maps and other similar setups use...

REAL TIME UPDATES via a network connection.

That would be the only way to keep updated to new roads and other changes. Heck, here is SoCal there is one new road that doesn't show up and another opening soon that will also not be on my map system.

Pathetic given the available technology.

Maybe in your era but the last drive in I went to was 1976 and we still hung their speaker on the driver side door.

Actually, I did it with the door open, just remember to not change the state of the doors. If they are open, leave them open, if closed leave them closed.

Yeah I remember those when I was a kid - our only remaining drive-in still has a few spots where there are wires sticking out the poles where the speakers used to attach, but has been radio based for around 20 years.

My daughters adore the drive-in so we go 3-4 times a year - haven't done so in the Jeep yet so a little concerned about the keyless system cutting off.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I have a question for those who have installed the update. Did you lose your favorites? Also, did any of your settings change, such as guidance preferences?

Nope the only change was it saying 2013Q4 instead of 2012Q2. Favorites and settings untouched, easy upgrade except for jeep wanting to time out during the 45 minutes

Greetings,

This summer, I differently want to go back to the Drive-in. I can still remember the double feature of watching John Wayne in True Grit & The Cowboys.

Drive-ins and Drive-in Movie Theatres at DriveinMovie.com

It should be interesting in the JGC. I hope I do not fall asleep.

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

We still have a Drive-in going strong. Also has a flea market.

I have done my updates, while driving down the road, so the car is running.

I have not done the map updates, just the uconnect updates

During a past UConnect update, I had to reset some of my vehicle settings. I remember, for instance, that my running lights (LED) got turned off under settings. I've noticed more 14/15 Grand Cherokees on the road lately with running lights off, making me wonder if one of the recent software updates for some reason defaulted those lights off. All that to say, probably worth glancing through your settings just to make sure nothing happened.
