The latest has been bumped up from March to June 2015 but still its not available. It says you have the most current updates available. I am going to navigation.com and entering the jeep brand. I wonder why the updates for the 13's are not available yet the 14's are. Happy for you guys that are getting your updates, that's great!! Is their another site to go to? OR should I go to the Dealer and check it out there?? Thanks much.
HERE site has map update available for '13 JGC

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I'm getting the impression "information" about the nav updates from HERE, regardless of source (web site, Facebook, customer service chat/phone) is about as credible as a magic 8 ball.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Sure is confusing. I went on the HERE site and it says the same thing that my maps on the 2013 GC are up to date but should have updates in june as they all have been saying for the past several months. I just don't know........ ?

Do you have the RHR or RHB radio? HERE lists updates for both.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

It is hard to talk about HERE without resorting to the vernacular. Their sluggard work, ancient maps and shoddy software just fills me with disgust. Now before anyone leaps to defend them, I've been using GPS since it came with a tube of D cells and took fifteen minutes to get a fix. Because the current map is so poor I am using Waze.com when I have cellular access and Copilot when I don't. Both are hugely faster and use a vastly better zoom algorithm. So now for the "low price" of $150 I can replace the desperately outdated maps they shipped with out of date maps? LOW PRICE??! I am going to use a 10" tablet linked to my cell phone. I really think that the pricing and quality of the navigation in the JGC is close to being bad enough to warrant a class action law suit.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

So have they improved the software as well as updating the maps? The switch from Garmin to this crud was a major backward step. The auto zoom is useless on anything beyond a trip round the corner. When I am heading to Provo, Utah from San Frnacisco on I80 and my next turn is just after SLC airport in 700 miles I really don't get any value out of being shown the next 200 yards of road. Garmin would show me the route to the next turn when travelling at speed then zoom in slightly as I slowed down. Now that is an autozoom algorithm. It demonstrates some intelligence. But really what this piece of garbage needs is a head unit with a decent processor. I have a mount that bolts in under the seat mounting bolt and I am going to use that to place a 10" Samsung tablet (1/3rd of the cost of this junk) in front of the center console. I wish there were some sign that Chrysler were actually listening. I have filled out their surveys and even been called back, but the people who call are just punchbags, employed to suffer for the company, and it isn't their fault. One did say that they were going to replace the nav in future vehicles but couldn't tell me that there would ever be a fix for these old pieces of junk. Sad. I was mugged when I bought the nav system. I wish I could rip it out and replace it but it is too integrated in to the vehicle systems.

Save yourself a lot of work, just don't press the NAV button. I rarely do.

Tom
It usually takes an automotive company 12-18 months. Garmin Does it in about 8-10 months. Their Current Map Data Release is 2015.3 (third Quarter of 2015) and is stamped with July 2014 Data. Garmins Map has been out for a month or two.... See my prior post for the date comparisons (in the photo). That was what I was getting at before, that Auto Manufacturers in general are not a slow as perceived, but up until recently Garmin basically lied about how old their maps data was (yes still newer than automotive)... Again this one was a long time coming, but that won't be the norm going forward.

Greetings,

According to the photo, 2 dates are given under the Map Database:

1st date : Is 201202, which represents the initial release.

2nd date: Is 20140418 which represents the last build release onto the initial release.

Is this the nomenclature that H.E.R.E. uses for FCA?

Best for now.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Hi,

As of today 6/4/15 there is a map update available for 2014 Jeep Cherokee's available on the HERE website. It asks for the VIN # and something called a Request Code which is supposed to be listed in the system information option under settings in the Apps section. When I get to the section for the request code it is just blank; no code listed. The request code is a 22 digit number.

The dealer could not get the code and now they want me to drop the jeep off next week so they can try and get the code. The code does show up on 2015 vehicles following this procedure but not on my 2014.

Does anyone know how to get this code?

Thanks

kosmos60
