This will not work on our radios.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

maybe ...

I agree that we have to look at it but we now know that the neweer Charger radio is a Harman system with Garmin maps and this radio is called 8.4AN/RB3 RB4 exactly as our as we can see in Uconnect site (Uconnect® | Find the right Uconnect system for your Dodge Vehicle).

The charger thread may be misleading as it starts giving a link for older radios (2011-12) but the thread information is really for " newer radios on the 2013-2014 Charger".

Their software version est strangly similar to ours with version 13, 14 and 15 ... The GUI is certainly different but very similar to ours. Icones, colors differ, not the basic functions. It would be really strange if FCA uses the same radio hardware with many different providers for maps. It would be a real mess to manage. Generally they seem to pick providers by radios not by type of vehicule the radio is installed in.

As HERE bought Navteq and they are now replacing Navteq names, I think we may also have Garmin, at least I hope ! Also, I checked a problem in my Jeep GPS and the same problem exists on maps with Garmin up to date maps.

I'd be really curious to see the update's file names and size. If someone could post the file names and size or do a screen capture from their computer showing these files, it would be appreciated. PM is another option.

Knowing that someone succeeded with a very similar radio should give us some confidence.

I think it's worth a try ... at least looking at it ...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I doubt this is related to the update, but ya never know. On a trip today and I got the "service car phone" error and the red light on the mirror (beside te 9-1-1 button). I noticed the clock stopped updating, so I rebooted the system (Mute + Enter) and now the GPS is way off. I think when the phone went out, it also lost GPS and switched to dead reckoning. After the reboot, it seemed to think it was back earlier in the route and then started moving on the map relative to how I was driving, but still way off. I checked the GPS signal strength on the "Where am I" function, and it shows no signal. I see there are some threads about that, so I'll take a look around. No one else had this problem after the update, did you?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

ordered the new map update for my Uconnect system and I got it from the mail today. However, after hours talking to the representative from HERE.COM. I have no luck installing the new update.

Before you can order the map, you have to have your VIN and Request Code in order to order from their website. The Request code can be find under System Information on the UConnect System.

The $149 package came with 2 USB drive, one is drive contain the UConnect v14.25.5 update. You need to install the v14.24.5 update before you updated map. In my case, I updated long time ago, so this step wasn't need.

Then, I have to insert the second USB drive into the USB input under the UConnect system. Once you insert the USB drive, you need to wait roughly 2-3 minutes to have the USB loaded up and a message show up if you need to installed the map.

I hit Yes and you will need to type in the Activation code I got from the confirmation email. I type the first time, it show me a message saying "Error Code" so I re-type and make sure there were no mistake. (You don't need to type in those dashes on the code).

So, I called UConnect Assist and they told me I have to called HERE.COM customer service. I told the HERE representative what happened and she told me the request code changed every time you restart your car, so the request code is no long valid. She asked me the "current" request code and she gave me a new Activation code and still doesn't work.

After turning off the car, left for the system to a completely shut off. I gave here a new request code and we try a new set of Activation code and it failed as well. She endup need to sending my case to someone to a upper level in order to get is resolved. She told me someone from a higher department will give me a call tomorrow or Thursday. Do you guys have similar problem to update the map? Is there any successful story? If so, How to you resolve it? if there is any update, I will keep you guys update.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Jeep mailed me the flyer for the nav update (finally checked my mail).

I just think that at this point, I'm not going to waste 150 bucks on it. I'll wait to see what people here continue to say going forward.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I had no trouble. It asked for the code in the package and that code worked fine.

When I installed mine, the request code was completely irrelevant. There was an activation code in the bottom section of the invoice that came with the package. It's tricky to find and I missed it my first time around, but it's there. Try typing that in and see what happens. If that fails, do a factory reset and try it.

Other than the time it took, I had no problem with installation.

I just check that is the same activation code I got from the email.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Hi all,
I have a 2014 JGC Summit model (built in Jan 2013 so an early model). I had the exact same experience as JohnnyIowa below. I received the update in the mail. I only needed to use the second thumb drive containing the updated map as I already had the latest UCONNECT version installed. The supplied activation code did not work. Called HERE twice for new codes which did not work. The problem was elevated to a supervisor who worked with me and provided me with more activation codes which did work. They had me send screen shots of my system info and the code on the box. I did not hear back from them so I went to my dealer (as one of the earlier HERE techs recommended) and they were VERY helpful. They had a way to elevate it to a much higher level and get higher level techs at HERE involved.

In my case it turned out that in the original package they sent me, the version of the map update was for the 2015 JGC UCONNECT software. Evidently it is different that the 2014 software. The USB's in the new box that HERE sent to my dealer were labeled exactly the same as my first ones when I looked at them and the box they came in looked exactly the same BUT when the Jeep tech and I stuck the map update USB from the more recent box sent direct to the dealer I was able to put my activation code in and IT WORKED. What was different was this USB contained a different MAP version than the USB that I had originally tried from the first box. (still later than my original 2nd quarter 2012 version that came with the jeep) but no way to tell that from the box or the USB labels themselves. The dealer took my old box and USB's and sent it back to HERE for evaluation.

So, from this episode, I think there is problem at a couple different levels probably at HERE in their packaging and website design as to what map update versions actually go into a 2014 or a 2015 JGC and how they are ordered because they are different and not compatible. Currently someone is treating both jeep year UCONNECT systems the same and that is just not the case as confirmed by my dealership technicians.

So... If you have ordered an update and it does not work go to your dealer and see if they can work their magic to get the correct version. If you haven't ordered an update yet, I would wait until this problem gets sorted out at HERE because it is a system problem they have...not a one time mix up, that needs to get fixed.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Well, I wouldn't able to get much help from my local dealership. The representative has zero knowledge of anything. I probably will get an answer from them saying my car is out of warranty and they have obligation to help me since I didn't buy the map from them. HERE.com representative supposed to call me yesterday and I end up calling them and told me the problem has not resolved yet. I was told I will get a call from them today. We will go from there. Things must really be screwed up at HERE. According to their website, there is no update available for the '15 JGC.
