i'd go to the local dealer parts counter and check. While not likely it might be possible.

the older Chysler dvd based systems come from HERE also and can be purchased from the HERE website but the last couple I purchased also had mopar parts numbers and I purchased them that way. I wouldn't hold my breath by any means but it's worth asking the dealer if they can order so one could use a gift cert.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

We just got home from a 7200 mile road trip from RI to Yellowstone and Glacier NPs.We travelled through 20 states, including major cities like NY and Chicago.I didnít upgrade because I wasnít sure I would get it before we left.I never had a problem, the only thing I noticed that was wrong were the speed limits.

Iím sure there are changes somewhere, but it was accurate for us.

Iím not sure if I will upgrade right now but if we planned to make another trip I would

The old maps were quite accurate last August and September when I left Cincinnati for Custer, SD, then on to the Olympic Peninsula in WA, down to Portland, OR, then to southern OR and back home. Since upgrading, it has only been from Cincinnati to Fort Wayne and my wife said it was fine except for one lane southbound through Dayton where it still showed being off the expressway. However, when she changed to the right hand lane, it was happy. Dayton has been under construction since at least 2005 and it seems to be different up there every time we go through the town.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

What is the bottom line with this NAV update? Is it worth the $149? My 2014 Summit still has the 65 MPH speed limits when they are now 70, etc. Does it correct this? Also , can we just go to a dealer and they will put the update in (for a fee, I'm sure)? Thanks

Only if I can get the update install in my unit. It has been over a week and they are not giving me a solution.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I made an attempt with my dealer to see if I could do anything with them and they definitely seemed as if they did not want to be bothered. They gave me the site to go on, and I told them I was there but it kept saying as it still does that I still have the latest maps available. They just shrugged their shoulders. SEEMS LIKE A 2013 WILL NEVER GET AN UPDATE. So many others are available except for the 2013 RHB. They have been prolonging it continuously for the last year. Oh well...........back to Map Quest.

For a 2014, it might be because your maps may be a couple years old.

For a 2015, I wouldn't consider it worth it since the maps that came with the vehicle are 6 months or less older.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Anyone try using the gift certificate they sent out to the 2014 owners?

I believe this was addressed earlier in this thread...the maps come from HERE/Navteq, not MOPAR/dealer...so you'll have to pony up the money.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Just wanted to add this experience. My sister just bought the 2015 map update from HERE for her 2013 Nissan Rogue. It was listed at $150, but she got it from HERE directly for $99. She asked me to install it because she never did it before. It was on an SD card, and when I went to install it, I found a card in the slot with the 2014 maps. I took that out and put the new one in. It installed some OS updates in about 2 minutes, and we were good to go. The maps are read directly from the SD card. I think it's a great setup. Quick and easy. FCA should take a look at this.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

That is old school. Rather than SD card, they used to be read form a CD. It does take a little more time every time you start the car for the info to become available when being read from an external source. Of course that would also mean we either have two SD card slots, or lose the use of the current one. I use it to store all music on as it takes up less space than USB, and a USB port can be used to multiple things (currently powering my dash cams) where as a SD card slot, well that is good for an SD card.
