Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Does the update arrive on a CD or a USB stick??

And what instructions come with it?

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

USB and the instructions are convoluted. You need to have a PC on the net to get your activation code.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Things must have changed. My map update installation went very smooth this past May. The activation code was on my order confirmation page when I ordered it online.
I plugged the usb in and followed the prompts, entering the activation code I received on the confirmation page, and 45 minutes later, all done. I've heard other stories of problems, but none here.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Hi Jacko15,
During the 45 minutes, did you have the Ignition on Run alone; or was the engine actually running?

Thanks

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

My engine was running... Notes: YMMV It took longer than 45 min to complete. I think it was closer to 1.25 hours. And, the instructions didn't match what my HU displayed particularly at the last step. Advice: After it's done, it will not display the versions on the USB and HU on two line for comparison. So just hit no when it comes back online after the final reboot. I clicked yes after the final reboot thinking it would do the comparison on the next screen, it didn't, and the install ran for a second time and another 1.25 hours... I was pretty frustrated...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I had the engine running to avoid timing out and powering down. From what I've read here, if it times out and powers down it will pick up were it left off when you restart.

Hi aadadams,
I am wondering if you could do us a favour.
I have a Garmin 1370 with Lifetime North America maps.
I would like to compare my file names for these maps with the names of the file you loaded. I would love to use these if I could.
Would you be able to provide your file names to us , thanks.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

Just received my map update from Here and want to share something's I noticed already.

1 - No uconnect update usb included. Instructions say to get it from the uconnect site.

2 - Instructions say to keep engine running during map update. The instructions advise not to move the vehicle during update because uconnect, nav and sensors will be unavailable.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

You do not need to have the vehicle running. I started it with it in run mode but not running. About every 10 minutes I cycled the ignition to off, acc and back to run. No loss of power as long as you don't open the door while cycling.

I learned this the hard way after having to start over twice because it timed out. Mine did not start where it left off. It started from 0% again.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

I performed the update last night. Took about an hour. I left the engine running and it took about an hour to complete.

No issues whatsoever.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Map Update

For anyone who ordered and installed most recent update, what are map dates?

Sorry for the delayed response. There are too many files to type out names so I put together an image that covers the major stuff... Problem is I can't upload them. If you have an email address that you'd like to have it sent to PM me.
