2014 Grand Cherokee upgraded Audio Systems?

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to the forums - I leased a 2011 Grand Cherokee Limited and am really excited about the upcoming changes to the 2014 MY.

One dissapointment with the GC has been the Alpine Audio System.

Does anyone know if Jeep plans offer their Harman Kardon system or even Beats by Dre on non-SRT 2014 Jeep GC's?

Beats by Dre won't be on a GC..IMHO, Beats by Dre is overpriced and overrated.

Try going from a 14-speaker THXII system (my daily-driver) to the dismal Apline. You'll even be more disappointed. There's a night and day difference between the two.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee upgraded Audio Systems?

I also have the THX II sound system in my other car, which is why the Alpine system killed me as well.

Of course I prefer high quality to booming bass, but I would even buy the Beats by Dre (if it was offered which it is not) over the Alpine system.

The North American Auto Show can't come soon enough!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee upgraded Audio Systems?

Is anyone disappointed with the Harman Kardon system? I'm coming from a TBSS that had BOSE, and while I don't really like BOSE for home entertainment, I really liked the quality in my SS.

I test drove a '13 Vapor and while driving I flipped on satellite radio. I really wasn't impressed at all with the 19 speaker system. I pulled over and did a little EQ (not too much because I was ready to get back to the test drive) and never really got fully satisfied, mainly with the bass. There wasn't any punch. It also just sounded flat across the band. Sort of like there was no immersion in the music.

So to those that have had the Harman Kardon or have listened to it: Did I need to spend some more time dialing it in? Or is your $2K better spent on aftermarket speakers and amplifier?

Lol, you want a beats by Dre stereo? Jeez. If they put some crap like that in, I'd lose all respect for Jeep and wouldn't even consider a vehicle from them, even if it was their mid grade system.

I thought the Bose system in the TBSS sucked. No bass, no midbass, just mids and tweets. The Alpine system may not be perfect for a lot of people (more people than you'd imagine really do like boom boom bass), it's much better than that system IMO.

I'm a little disappointed they didn't re-imagine the door panels for 2014 to improve imaging. Putting midrange speakers where your water bottles go is a cop out IMO.
