Re: 2014 NAV Version North America

Everyone is running version # "Outdated". The current maps are almost 2 years old already. Had a Garmin window mount unit that got various updates in a single year for $99 unlimited updates. Why can't they do that with these units that don't require a DVD to be printed and mailed out? Their cost should be way down.

Re: 2014 NAV Version North America

Received a reply from Navteq on my next release question. Looks like end of summer, "subject to change".

"Thank you for inquiring about HERE Maps. The latest update for your 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee is scheduled to be released late summer 2014, subject to change."

Re: 2014 NAV Version North America

I noticed on the Navteq site that they have 2015 version map updates for the 2012 Jeep RHR nav systems.

Maybe our 2014 Jeeps with the 8.4AN systems will be next.

Wonder how late "late" is. I'm planning on leaving on a major trip on August 28 and would love to have new maps for that.

FWIW, we got back from a trip to Maine last week and the nav had no problem getting us places. An earlier trip in a different vehicle had my up-to-date dashtop Garmin re-calculating so much I turned it off.

Re: 2014 NAV Version North America

I travel the Houston TX metro area daily, and there are MAJOR highways completed but still not recognized by GC nav system. I have clients that have been in new buildings for more than three years that still do not appear on our map version.

With some office time today, I called Here (what a stupid name, formerly Navteq) to inquire again, since it is officially SUMMER. The first two calls were the same old message: "Your 2014 Grand Cherokee has the most current software system, we update every 12-18 months, and an update should be coming out this summer”.

I talked to a supervisor named Brandon. He explained that Here provides only the map data to car manufacturers and other companies, such as MapQuest. He says that JEEP or its nav system designer, presumably Harmon, generates and updates the navigation software. Once the nave update is complete, JEEP sends it back to them for map data update and distribution; they “only sell it”. He says the updates are done by model year, but since 2014 was a “new system” and came out early while still in the 2013 model year; Chrysler must have decided to say with older data so as to reduce beta issues related with the new infotainment system. Based on this reasoning, the next update is expected for MY 2015, i.e. THIS SUMMER. I asked him why they could not simply offer updated map data on the software versions that tens of thousands of us are using right now. He said the file would have to come from Chrysler, and they are "probably working on new upgrades and services for 2015 MY.

I asked Brandon for a name of a higher level manager that I could write to about this issue; he reported he was not allowed to give names.

My next call was to JEEP Customer Service. I talked to a very courteous and friendly Suzy, who provided the standard JEEP line: I am sorry to hear you are having problems; I will log this for investigation. I engaged her a bit more and explained what Brandon told me. She did not think Brandon was correct because “they refer all questions about navigation to Navteq”. JEEP Customer Service agents don't seem to know how the navigation system is implemented or updated.

Either way, leaving 2012 maps in 2014 and 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokees is RIDICULOUS. All UConnect NAV users should call JEEP Customer Service, log a complaint, then call every week for update.

And don't get me started on VR....

Re: 2014 NAV Version North America

I talked to a Brandon at HERE (navteq). He seemed unconcerned about my problem and had the "that's the way it is, live with it" attitude. He told me they had no supervisors. Must be a nice place to work.

I'm the same with a build date of 5/14. BTW excuse my ignorance but when an update is released how is it loaded into the vehicle?
