So ...if you got the cash, then spend it on a Lexus GX 460 and tweak it out with Land Cruise Prado bits. Sadly, as capable as it is, it is an old, body on frame truck with an antiquated engine and transmission.

As is the ever popular HEMI ... but I'll take one.

As for the tranny, GC hasn't been too impressed with "new and improved

Re: 2014 Navigation update now available

Yeah I know what you mean with "new and improved". Now don't shed a tear or reach for the shotgun, depending on the case. But I did think about you tonight ...

I was in the burbs and as I stop at a light some dude with a new Ford Escape. I moved slightly forward...he move forward a bit more.

Ended up a drag race. He most definitely had an Ecoboost engine because he was quick. Very quick. But he lost, I was driving the Subaru. By 45 mph he was 4 car lengths behind. A V6 Jeep would have no chance against the Escape and a V8 would be close. I've gotta search some comparisons of this specc'ed Escape with a Forester XT.

I've got Ford escape with that ecobost engine while renting a car on my vacation. Wow, that car/engine put a smile on my face every time I had to drive it. It was so much fun, loved it! Mpg was average at best.

I think we are getting off topic here.

Re: 2014 Navigation update now available

Is there a way to preview those maps? I just want to know if the new and relocated entry / exit ramps are there on I278. If they are there than I would be inclined to upgrade as they couse pain for me. They were completed probably late 2013/early 2014.

Re: 2014 Navigation update now available

The navigation system is an insult to those of us who paid ~ $50,000 for a GC. It is slow as heck to enter the destination and to zoom in and out, does not show potential destination list locations on the map, and uses just a part of the screen which is waster with soft buttons which should be physical buttons below the screen.

Now they add to the insult trying to charge $149 for just a map update! We have a 7" screen Magellan unit we bought at Fry's for $99 which has free lifetime updates.

2014 Navigation update now available

If anyone already has the .....2013Q4 version, then this "update" will not do anything. The 2013Q4 is the latest map offered

So, are you saying that people are paying over $100 simply to have a higher version number display in the "about" dialog box?

Don't leave us little guys who paid ~)40,000 out! The screen and system (Uconnect) is definitely functional if they utilize its capabilities correctly. The NAV issue is killing them and us!

Re-read what I said. The 2013Q4 version is the latest. If you have this version then you do not need this update.

What's so hard to understand?

Disgruntled antsjeep is disgruntled. Heh.

Chrysler should be aware, thanks to the VIN/"request code" approach of placing an order for an upgrade, which maps database is currently on the vehicle. Based on your earlier comment I concluded that they are willing to sell owners that already have 2013Q4 an "upgrade" that has tweaked version/build numbers (because there's more than one version number associated with this software, you know) but that has no effect in terms of map content.

Selling that kind of specious "upgrade" is a ruse that would make PT Barnum proud, and is the kind that makes class action lawyers excited.
