Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

Been using a Kingston 64GB USB drive with limited success. Going to try the suggestion earlier in the thread and reformat the drive, prior to re-copying over the data.

A few of the problems I have seen include playing a couple of songs and hen locking up, and jumping back to the first song/album/artist on the drive... mid-song.

Would like to switch over to SD anyway to open the USB port up for iPhone charging, but will downshift to a 32GB if I do.

Remember to lock the card before you put it in your Jeep.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

Reformatted the Flash Drive (Kingston Datatraveller 64GB) as exFAT32 and the drive could not be seen by Uconnect.

Used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool - Free download and software reviews - CNET Download.com to reformat the 64GB drive as FAT32 and things were smooth sailing today. Figured I would post the link above in case others had the same issue with a drive > 32GB and were running Windows 7 or XP.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

Looks like I jumped the gun. While driving this morning was listening to an album (showing my age there I suppose), and after successful playback of about 5 songs in a row it jumped to a random track of another album.

Prior to my reformatting of the USB drive and reloading the content it exhibited this same behavior expect it always would "jump" back to a track of the Allmans Live at Ludow. Assuming this morning's "jump" will be the same, it has now latched onto a 68 Zeppelin bootleg. So it appears the default folder and file had changed, but the behavior stayed the same.

Just tried updating the firmware to 13.19.0 and will see if it was software and not the 64GB selection after all.

I think your sd card may be as old as you and just has its personal album preferences.

Me too, and I only have one album on it.

Yeah, same here with a USB drive since the latest software update and reformatting as FAT32. I do find since those changes that things have been a lot more stable though. Haven't seen a random album change, which was a problem that I was having before.

When the drive is recognized it picks up right where it left off. So in a sense the delayed startup, has been a good tradeoff for me.

Just got a 32GB SD card in the mail today and will be switching over. That is just to open up the USB port for phone charging though, and not due to my previous concerns with random folder/album changes.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

I'm running a 64GB USB Stick and seems fine.

Most systems want Fat32 format. I had to buy software to format it Fat32

I have over 7000 songs on it and the display does read song xxxx of 7000

Just to be clear, .aac, and .m4a are not necessarily Apple format files. ".aac" files generally contain AAC encoded audio, which is a neutral standard, and ".m4a" is an extension for the MPEG4 container, which can contain a whole host of differently encoded media, including apple lossless, and AAC ecoded audio.

the .m4a extension tells you almost nothing about the format of the audio, and whether a device will be able to read it.

I would be interested to see if someone can get a 64G SDXC card working. It sounds like it won't, but I'd still like to see. While you may think 32G of music should be enough for anyone, I have over 350G of music, and could easily fill up a card that size.

Though, with a 6k file limit, that extra space may be worthless.
