I will be definately getting a slim USB drive of anywhere above 32gb,nice and small so it doesn't stick out too much and I'll be loading up my songs on it,I just wanna hear the music so if the album art doesnt show up no biggy.
If you reformat the card sd card to default on the computer, you should have no problem. Bizet, if you need help with anything, you can PM me and I will answer as soon as I can to help you out

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

I prefer to use the SD card slot, because I want to keep the USB port open to connect my iPhone. That way it will charge and I can put it away in the storage copartment or take it out if I need to transfer a call from the car to the handset. I can have music on the iPhone and it connects as "ipod" and it can still be paired via bluetooth for handsfree phone.

I believe the Class !0 SD cards transfer faster than USB, as far as getting songs loaded up. Not 100% on that one.

SD cards are fine. You just need a good, non-corrupt card to start with, properly formatted.

I'll play with it, but as far as I know, if you are using USB flash drive instead, the artwork still should show. Just a different storage device, that's all. If the TAG info and artwork are there, the system should still retrieve it.

There a power cords that provide the power to the iPhone and if it's synced to the car you should still be able to take a call while in motion so keeping your phone charged and taking calls should still be available even though it's not plugged into the USB spot.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

Correct. There are plenty of places to plug it in for charging, and the calls are coming in over bluetooth even when it is plugged in. I just like to use the front USB port for convenience, so I don't have a cable running across the console or something. I can plug it in and close the lid on the compartment and just take the phone out when I need it. Plus if I plug it in that way I have ipod functionality also.

Very minor; just a preference, so the phone is closer at hand if I want to take a call on the handset and not the handsfree.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

For sd cards I'm using FAT file system with wma formatting and it's been working great. For usb I use FAT32 and wma. I get all my album art with both. I like keeping several small 8 gb usb drives with different types of music, such as rock, or jazz or classical, and even one with Christmas music, so I can put them in shuffle mode. The set-up for music in my JGC is the best I've encountered in any vehicle I've owned.

I think I'm going to give the USB drive a shot,it seems to have less issues and accepts more media. I don't think the current draw will matter if I leave it plugged in all the time and if the album art doesnt come up no big deal for me.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

My SD cards are formatted FAT32 using the Mac disk utility. Artwork will show fine on USB or SD card inputs. The key is to have the artwork embedded in the music files. I use iTunes, and if iTunes retrieves the artwork, it is not embedded within the music files, but rather stored in a separate folder. There are ways around that, including 3rd party software, which can batch process, or there are a couple of Apple Scripts available that you can load into the itunes scripts library and run within iTunes. You can do the same things w/o any extra software, but it is tedious and time consuming.

Artwork must be less than 1000x1000 pixels to show on the display. I think Gracenote furnished artwork is usually 600x600, which looks great, but you can use larger, so long as it is underneath that upper limit. I found this through trial/error, as I have seen nothing posted anywhere as to the specs and limitations of the uConnect system.

The SD card option is working great for me. I like the fact that the SD card is tucked away neatly and I can still stick my phone in the compartment w/o having a jump drive sticking out of the USB port. Pure personal preference though.

I agree on the music system. I'm very pleased overall, except I wish it weren't so heavy in the mid-range frequencies. I've had to dial that way down to have acceptable sound quality.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

I took an Amazon SD card out of the package, stuck it in my HP laptop and started feeding it CDs. I never gave formatting a second thought. I have 1600+ songs on it and it's been working fine.

If for some reason using a USB allows you to shuffle within a genre I'll be switching over.
