Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

If your SD is working fine, then it was properly formatted from the start.

Shuffle mode works for me in "genre" with SD. It will not work within a user defined "folder" though. I originally changed the genre of all files within certain folders, as a workaround to the shuffle not working in the folder. Worked fine. Now I use the playlist feature instead and shuffle works fine within a playlist. Although....there is something distinctly non-random about shuffle mode. To have as many songs as I have loaded, to have the same songs come up so often does not feel random at all. Plus, shuffle mode is not retained consistently. Sometimes I shut the car off in shuffle mode and when I get back in, it is still in shuffle. Other times it is not.

Unfortunately for me, "genre" is one of the fields in my music collection that is really going to be time consuming to clean up. Way too many different entries. Who knew "Funk Alternative Schizo-Rock" was a genre....?

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

Seems like each radio has a mind of its own. Mine has been is shuffle mode for over a month and stays there. But, every time I think it is staying within a genre, something pops up that just doesn't belong. Instead of fighting it I just hit the button on the back of the wheel and go to the next song.

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

That's why I loaded 40 or 50 albums on separate usb drives grouped by genre. I just stick a drive in and hit shuffle. They're pretty cheap at Best Buy, so I just leave them on the shelf above the ports. I marked them with a little stick-on label to tell them apart.

4. Playlists. I am a Mac user, and I use iTunes for my music. Since Shuffle mode will not work properly within a folder, I have found a way to export an iTunes playlist file, with music, onto the SD card. There is a script available at dougscripts.com that will export the playlist file, and all songs, to the SD card. The playlist file is a .M3U file, and it basically contains pointers that reference the file location of each song on the playlist. The script changes the references as necessary to reflect the new location of each song on the SD card. It works great. For example, I have a "Rock" playlist with about 450 songs on my SD card. Exporting that to the SD card (16GB, Class 10 card) took 3 or 4 minutes, which is not bad. Once you get a playlist properly set up and loaded onto the SD card, you can then select the playlist and either play it in the order you specified in iTunes, or you can select "shuffle" mode and it will play randomly and stay within the playlist.
How does the script work? I selected the playlist and saved the M3U file to the SD Card. When I plugged it into the car it saw the M3U file but there was zero contents. Any ideas?

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

I noticed that if i leave the SD card in the slot the next time i start the car it says something like please insert SD card and it takes 30 sec or so until the car realize that the SD is actually plugged in lol
Anyone has this issue?

Re: 2014 sd card capacity?

Jakkall, I get the same thing. I am sure it just takes the 30 secs to recognize the SD and to also index all the files and metadata.
