Now at the moment I am fine with my current 9 speaker setup, But when I feel I need to upgrade can you just upgrade speakers and leave factory amp to drive the new speakers. I would replace sub with JL stealth box or a version of my own.

Those Focal's should work nicely. I have never heard that range but I have some K series in my other car and they obviously sound very nice. I know some others have the Image Dynamics 6x9 components which they seem to like too.

No need to go to a 6.5 round component however it just gives you a larger choice, that's all.

I only went for the Polk MM6501 (2.7ohm, 94dB) components because I don't intend to upgrade the amp.

So 4 Oms is fine and if I go with this speakers they only 80 rms compared to Polk wich is 125 rms is that will be enough for the existing amp. The think is if I change the speakers and it's will noticeable improvements I'm not going to change the amp then. Is that is a right choice to go with focal . What is the existing speakers rms power?

Got to be happy with that! Which Polk 3.5" did you end up using?

Nice. Also, how did you secure the tweeters? Hot glue?

Thanks! There are some good photos there. A number of members should find them handy when wanting a visual things without having to pull off panels... myself included.

I ended up cancelling the order for the Granite SRT with Stock System and bought an in stock White SRT fully loaded with the H/K system so I won't be needing the MS-8. Still going to tighten up that subwoofer box and maybe replace those 6x9's in the doors but not just yet.

If anyone is interested, I'm selling a brand spankin' new MS-8 at cost plus shipping :)

Ooops... I read that somewhere, sorry :sleepy:

I'm pretty set on installing one as I have plenty of "good" components around including Hertz, Eclipse, and a small batch brand called Studio Driver brought in by Audio Art and Technology (Perth). I figure the MS-8 is the best way to clean up the OEM cluster-f*#k and provide a reasonable tune, especially at the price point. I've got Audison and Alpine amps on hand if required, so the only other bit I'll need is a 3.5" centre and a sub. The latter will be an incremental noodling project for interest.

Amazon can ship the MS-8 here quite cheap, but if you want to price yours with freight to Perth I'd be happy to consider it as an alternative.

Cheers,
Steve
