Yes I have the DVD and owned the SVHS too.
Wow did this thread take a detour...

2001 premiered one week before my 9th birthday. I have owned it on S-VHS, a Criterion collection CAV LaserDisc, DVD and now Blu-ray. It's one of my all-time favorite films. (Blade Runner is #1 on my list.)

I'd like to see this on the Uconnect 8.4AN boot screen:

Ha, well back to your original comment. Almost none of the head units in the market turn off any more, just the amplifier section as far as the radio is concerned. Very much the norm.

I think I would be OK with using the mute button to "turn off" the radio if the darned thing would stay muted. Unfortunately, every time I start the Jeep whether with the key fob or the start button the radio unmutes itself. The only way I have found to reliably not have the unit audibly playing when I start the car is to crank the volume knob down to zero. Very annoying.

Also, on another topic, is there any way to have the car start with Eco mode off? I always turn it off but it turns itself back on with the car. I have to hit the freaking button every time I start the car. Also, very annoying.

Thanks,

Martin

Well the two points you make about it not remember to stay off or out of eco are both valid points. Other vehicles I drive that have eco do remember my last setting. At this time I think both are the way they are but let us see if that might get changed.

Re: 2014 Turn off the Radio

wow... talk about a thread Hijack! lol

2001 put me to sleep the 1st few times i watched lol.

back to the radio! I Signed up here to find this kind of info. This was the same as the 11 laredo with 430rbh (or whatever it was! lol) i always left it on DISC, but the 8.4an has no DISC! lol so, i turn the volume all the way down.

I am surpised that there is still no way to shut the radio off. (not the whole thing, just turn off the radio!)

Re: 2014 Turn off the Radio

You can turn off the monitor and you can turn off the sound. That is pretty much the same as turning off a radio in an older car other than the battery drain. What else do we need?

That about cover it, except for the psychological hang up of knowing it is on.

Static,
There is a mute button.

If you plug a 1/8" cable into the mini jack I think you can select aux and there will of course be no sound. Just a theory, I would need to check.

Wouldn't pressing the mute button be simpler?

Yes, Clearly but I see his point. Mute turns off on restart vs the aux will stay selected on restart. It is a silly work around, but I also found out he is running a stock original version so there is quarkyness there that might be making other things just generally funny... not ha ha funny but
