Unhappy Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

I also have a 2014 Laredo with a 5-inch screen. Glad to see it's not just me with this problem. It has been driving me crazy. Uconnect support is just blowing smoke about the compatibility of the iPhone's latest software update. I have a wireless Panasonic land line phone in my home that has never had a problem pairing with my iPhone with whatever version software. Sure sorry we all have to go through this for the crazy prices we paid to Jeep. We'll just have to keep hoping and complaining, but who should we really be targeting our complaints to?
GOOD LUCK you all!

Thanks for posting...I was considering restoring my phone back to 6.1 to find out. Do you have Verizon too? I am going to test it out later with my friends GalaxyIII anyway just to see. She has AT&T and also 4.1.1 OS which is listed as compatible.

Do y'all think I should let them replace my radio unit? I think they already pulled it out to check for loose wires or something, but would that be bad to have them replace it?

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

I bring my Jeep GC to the dealer next Tuesday for a software "fix". That's all I was told. I will let you all know if they fix the problem.

Definitely a uconnect firmware problem. My carrier for my iPhone by the way is ATT so it doesn't matter who your carrier is the problem is in the uconnect software. Keep us up on your 'Software' fix. I'd really like to know if the local dealer can do anything. Thanks.

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

Thanks for the updates...My dealer still does not have any answers. They report they are still waiting on Chrysler to get back to them.

I will update the forum when I hear back from them. Maybe the software fix will work

jeep - Uconnect

consult the compatibility list prior to jumping in to fast.

I will not dispute new vehicles should work with most phones, unfortunutly now day the phone vendors are force-push updates to the phone and dont allow the consumer to make the choice on what o/s they are stuck with. The vehicle was built 3 or 4 months ago, since then the phone may have updated its software two or three times and changed how bluetooth synch happens. I too used to think bluetooth is bluetooth, however with every changing technology so does how bluetooth operates.

Let's face it....Chrysler screwed up. My RAZR was just updated with Jelly Bean......BUT, it still functions in my F150 & my wife's VW. There is no reason an auto should come out today, tout their electronics as Uconnect does, and have problems working with any of the current smartphones on the market. Even Chrysler will tell you they messed up on this. No excuses. A friend just got a new 2013 Kia....I tried my phone in it and it worked just fine.

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

Copied this from another forum. The poster has been in touch with Jeep Customer Assistance, and this is the last reply he got from them.

"Update 4/5/13:
I received a call from the Uconnect Support group and explained all of the troubleshooting steps I've been through to date. I also mentioned if need be I'd be interested in participating as a beta user for any software releases they wanted to test in the real world (especially since I work in IT). They confirmed this is a known software bug where the random pin for the bluetooth connection that is generating is not being remembered after the vehicle is powered off for some time. They are currently working on a fix and hopefully will have something posted soon. I asked if they could possibly email me when the fix is released as the case was going to remain open/on hold until resolved.

The tech mentioned the update will be available 1 of 2 ways:

- From the dealership as a software patch applied during your normal maintenance visit
- Downloadable from the website onto a USB flash drive which you would be able to update yourself

I let him know I am very glad to see that the second feature is available so that I can fix the issue myself instead of waiting on a trip to the dealership once it's released.

For now I'm on hold until the software update is released on their website Chrysler Uconnect.

So far very happy with the response I've received over this issue even though it's a software bug on a new model."

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

It should work. no exuses.. your right. I am sure they will find a work around and get it working, hopefully sooner than later.
Something in the firmware/software in the 8.4AN solves the
issue. If enough people call into u-connect and chysler to complain it may expedite things.

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

Can't remember the Bluetooth PIN, can't remember seat settings, can't remember channel presets...I'd say they've got a major problem with non-volatile memory. Possibly something is corrupting the memory and that might also explain the rebooting.

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

I have the 8.4AN. My iPhone4 is on OS6.1.3.

I thought that would be weird but just wondering what you had to see if that really could be the problem.

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

I just picked up my 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited earlier this week. Having the exact same problem... can pair my phone at first but it does not stay paired after you shut the car off. Went to the dealership today - where my trusted mechanic is. It is indeed due to the 2014 having an updated Operating System. He paired his phone - the Samsung Galaxy - we shut the car off and his phone stayed paired. I then went to the Verizon store (I have a Droid). Had no problems pairing with my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. My phone is blue-tooth compatible. They advised I had to buy an updated phone. Called my mechanic back who said the same thing. I'm pretty pissed off... as someone said... you pay $40K for a car - the bluetooth should work!!!!
