Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

New member here - I have been trying to find out info on my issue without having to post, but I can't quite find the same problem listed in other posts or threads.

We took delivery of our 2014 on Monday and wife and I both have iPhone 4 (my OS is updated, hers is not).

The phones have no problem pairing on bluetooth. Phonebooks appear and music will stream. The USB connect for ipod play works well too.

BUT the problem is that voice recognition will not work to call people from the phonebook. It keeps saying "you have no favorites stored" or something like that. (1) I thought Uconnect called from the general contacts/phonebook from the paired phone and didn't require favorites (there's only a few favorites allowed anyway) and (2) I DO actually have favorites stored.

UConnect assist is of no help.

Anybody experience this or have any ideas? Thanks!

We're otherwise loving the WK2 and I'm happy to find an active and informed message board to participate in.

I don't know if this is an answer but here's something I've noticed... On my previous car, using the same phone, when I made calls I would simply say "call Ryan" or whoever. I tried that in the jeep and it didn't work however when I included Ryan's last name ...as the contact is listed in my iPhone, it recognized and successfully called

Thanks JK. I have tried all variations and it doesn't work. I have spoken slowly and clearly. Or more normal tone. Loud or soft. Close to the mic or not. Different ways to say the names, including "mobile" or "home" or not . I've tried it all.

Re: 2014 UConnect phone pairing issues?

My update: I called UConnect the other day and opened an official "case." I said that I was aware of the software bug and needed an update. That person said there was no fix available and that I would have to be put on a "list." So basically - useless. I then contacted my mechanic who made his own phone calls (he said to the engineering department). He got a USB tody and I just left the dealer after having the update installed. My phone now stays paired.

Welcome! Just push your dealership. The fix is available. I'm lucky... the mechanic at my dealership is THE BEST and genuinely cares.

Got my SRT today. Asked for the update (if available) before I picked it up.

So far iPhone (latest iOS) stays paired if I turn off the engine and walk away. When I come back it pairs automatically.

Yes, my dealer did update my software with the USB Flash Drive he received from Chrysler and problem of phones dropping out has been fixed. All Jeep dealers should be able to correct this problem with the software update from Chrysler.

Awesome, so glad we are getting this fixed. I just got a call from my dealer today informing me that they will have the update tomorrow.

I was told by Uconnect that the update won't be available until 2-3 more weeks. I mentioned that some dealers seem to have them. She said she has no idea where they are getting that and do not support that update.

Maybe they messed something up with that update.

She also said that you will be able to apply the update yourself once it is available, so you don't have to go to the dealer.

Hmmm, when I spoke to the mechanic at my dealer today he said that Chrysler called him and told him about it. Whatever it is it seems to be working for at least a couple of people here.

UConnect seems messed up to me. When I spoke with them they didn't give me any info about an update timeline and said that because my specific OS (6.1.3 and not just 6.1.0) wasn't listed as compatible that was why it wasn't staying paired, even though a friend with an android whose operating system was listed couldn't get her phone to stay paired to my car either. However, the guy I spoke with did tell me that sometimes they mail flash drives out with updates that you can install yourself. I don't like the idea of having to take it to the dealer for every update and it seems like there should be an online download available instead of having to wait for them to mail it as well. Someone in another forum said that every time she takes her Jeep in for an oil change she asks to have it hooked up to the star tool so that any updates will be downloaded...may have to remember to do this, although my understanding is that we only need an oil change every 8000 miles, which is pretty much only once a year for me.

The whole process just seems very disjointed to me, like lacking in communication between UConnect, Chrysler and dealers.
