Yep...my iPhone music no longer works with it plugged in unless I reboot the phone each time before plugging it in. Otherwise it just sits there and eventually says "Unknown iPod".
Here's the latest update. I just did it, worked great. Copy to a thumb drive, turn engine to run but don't start, insert drive. The screen will prompt you to update it. Took 20 min.
installed it this morning and it took exactly 18 minutes from start to finish. The responsiveness of the navigation does seem faster, but I don't really see other changes.
I'm stumped and need help. I downloaded the program as stated above from drop box to my pc and then used the extract/copy button to install it on my flash drive. Went in the vehicle and found the system setting as outlined in the directions. I saw that I had an old version but nothing happened when I installed the flash drive in the USB port. I did not get a screen asking (yes/no) if I wanted to install the upgrade. What did I do wrong and what do I do now?
You may have already done the following, but is your car in "run mode"? I started my car by pressing the ignition button (without pressing on the brakes).
This was my sequence:
turn the car on (without pressing the brakes)
I checked the version. I had 14.34 or something and verified i needed 14.47.1
I inserted the USB drive containing the .iso file
After about 20 seconds, the display asked me if I wanted to update.
Yes, did all that but whan I inserted the flash drive, nothing happened. Perhaps I did not install it correctly on the flash drive. Should I have used a different command instead of extract/copy after I downloaded the swdl.iso file? I'm stumped on how to unzip the iso file and then get it on the flash drive. Please tell me how to do it.
You can just copy paste it directly into the flash drive. Are you also sure you're plugging the usb in the right port? It should be the one under your center display (next to the AUX and sd card ports).
If that doesn't work, you might want to reformat your usb drive. Is it formatted to MS-DOS? try opening up your folder, screenshot it and upload it here for me to look at. Also, right click your USB and view the properties (if you're on mac, launch the Disk Utility program and erase the USB and format it as MS-DOS). Screenshot the properties as well.
Just checked my flash drive under Properties. It's formatted as FAT32. My other choices are NTFS and EXFAT. No choices exist for MS-DOS. And yes I am plugging it into the USB port next to the SD port on the dash below the screen. Do I need it formatted to MS-DOS?
no, fat32 should be fine. I'm not sure what's going on with your device then. I would try a different USB device. If that fails, I would go into the dealer and ask them to help (although that sounds like a nightmare).
Looks like the dealer is my only option. I went to Best Buy and bought another flash drive (16GB), did a direct copy to the drive and verified that it contained the same file as in the downloaded SWDL.ISO file, and attempted the upgrade one more time. When I insert the flash drive I get a notification on the top edge of the screen that the installation of the flash drive was not successful. What is odd is that when I insert the flash drive I also get a message that I have incoming calls (which don't exist) on my cell phone, even after I delete the phone from Bluetooth. I'm at my wits end and don't know what else to do. Either I'm not copying the ISO files properly or my USB port is bad and is not reading the flash drive.
I'm guessing that your jeep isn't reading your USB drive.
Try to put some music files on the thumb drive and see if those will play in your car. That will narrow down the issue of your USB port functioning or not
I had a few extra flash drives so I loaded one with some music files. They loaded and played well on my pc, my wife's Lexus and my son's car, but would not load or play on my 2015 JGC. I believe that narrows it down to the USB port as the problem. I'm not sure if it's fixable or if I need a new Uconnect radio. Anyone know or want to guess? I guess I'll find out for sure when I take it to the dealer. I bought the vehicle in late November so it's still under warranty.
