I will give HERE props for this. Jeep just replaced the radio in my vehicle and it now has the old maps on it again. They shouldn't have even had to do that if they were really on top of it.
They should offer a download option so you can just use your own USB drive. The you could just re-download the update at any time without even having to call them.
For that matter, if UConnect was on it, your Jeep could connect to your home WiFi and could find and apply updates as needed. For maps, all you should need is your VIN which would re-authorize the Jeep to re-download and apply the update.
Instead, we have a communications system that has allowed hackers to connect and perform software modifications, but not the legitimate customers.
Oddly enough, with the above hack, I was able to download the patch and apply it. I had to enter my VIN and everything. Despite that, a few weeks later, I got a USB stick in the mail with the update. Don't these guys talk to each other?
