3D Mode?

I've noticed the 3D mode on my nav (2015 JGC Overland with tech) isn't as much of a 3D perspective as other cars I've owned. To test I did a few quick A/B comparisons while parked and while moving. Both maps looked exactly the same. Am I missing something? Does 3D only mean buildings are shown or should I see more of a perspective view?

Re: 3D Mode?

It's my understanding that 3D mode only works in certain cities like NYC.

Re: 3D Mode?

Got it, thanks. I live in northern VA so I'll see if DC is a part of that list. I guess I was expecting it to be more like the 3D "perspective" view you see on other cars' navs. Kind of like Waze.

Not that it matters too much. While I like the look of the perspective style view you can actually see much more in the 2D bird's eye view. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't some sort of glitch in my software.

Re: 3D Mode?

I'm in the Boston area, and I've yet to see this "3D" NAV mode...

Re: 3D Mode?

3d is in full bloom in philly near 30th street station. Guess what? The nav hardware is so underpowered that drawing in the buildings lags the nav significantly and/or lags the drawing of the buildings. Eventually, if you don't move much, you get to see some good stuff. However, when it is working, the 3d detail, with its laggy screen paint, overcomes the screen with giant sizes of buildings. It's really a poor implementation however I would assume various areas that are 3d mapped may perform differently. Bottom line, you aren't missing anything
