430N Alaska

The 430N manual says that the navigation covers limited parts of Alaska. I live in Alaska and can't get my hands on a GC with a 430N to see how it is up here. I tried calling jeep customer service and they've been no help. They said they'd look into it and get back to me. That was almost two weeks ago. Can anybody help? What kind of alaska and Canada maps does it provide?

Re: 430N Alaska

I'm no expert on Alaska roads, but just checked the 430N and it had no trouble plotting me a route to Fairbanks (only 6,875 kms, 65 driving hours away from where I am).

The city roadway map seems to be fully there, and same for some other Alaska places I checked (Anchorage, Juneau).

I think the Garmin maps are pretty well updated for NorthAm. I still have the original maps that came with the Nov. 2010 build. There is a more recent set, but at $150 last time I checked I have not yet updated.

Re: 430N Alaska

I'm not sure what parts of Alaska aren't covered (very rural/wilderness areas I'm guessing) but any urban area seems to be well covered.

I can say that Canada likewise is very well covered. Any road that existed or was planned in the last two or so years ago can be found in the database. So far no difficulties navigating.
