Re: 430N and Sirius Travel Link
I tried this install update today. Can't say I am happy about the way that went. For a moment I thought disaster had struck.
Tried the install per the instructions. Jeep powered own, radio off, inserted the disk and in 20 seconds of so the message to update the radio software appeared. That process took about 10 minutes or so. Then according to the instructions, the hard drive base files would be updated, this would be the travel link files being inserted. The instructions stated that portion would start in about 2 minutes. Well, I waited 10+ and nothing happened. Ejected the disk, reinserted the disk, waited 10 more minutes and nothing. Tried to power the radio, nothing. Getting pissed now, wondering how stupid I was for downloading an update off the net like that.
Powered the Jeep off for 5 minutes, repowered it and inserted the disk. In about 20 seconds or so the message to update the baseline HDD files appeared. That process took around 3 minutes and then the NAV update message appeared. That took about another 2-3 minutes. The radio rebooted and I ejected the disk.
Initially the SAT radio had no channel information and when it did start coming in I had only the message to contact Sirius to subscribe. A couple of minutes later that went away and I had the same Sirius access I had before on the radio screens. I hit the Menu button and the Travel Link button was there. I had access to Weather, Fuel Prices, Movies, Skiing, saw a Sports button but that was grayed out.
I was pretty disappointed in the Weather. It only had current and forecast information. I didn't see any weather maps or radar imagery. I can hear the current and forecast weather on any station, the radar maps and such is the difference maker and I didn't see that being available. Pretty annoyed at that.
Anyone else with the 430N seeing the Weather Maps and Radar on their Travel Link.
