430N and Sirius Travel Link? ? ? ?

Sirius Travel Link service free for one year is on the build sheets of all the new Overlands with the 430N media center. BUT..it does not show up anywhere on the subscription window on the 430N. Does anyone know when and how we are going to receive this on the 430N? ? ? ? ?

Jeep better get on the ball and update the 430N with travel Link, bluetooth streaming issues, and the USB in center console error messages.

I realize there is only so much they can do but don't advertise these products as features when I buy if they don't work!

Besides these issues I am loving my new Overland!

P.S. And also that my chrome package didnt include the fog bezels which I am still arguing...we shall see!

UPDATE: I understand that ChryCo. will have an upgrade later this month to add Travel Link and fix other 430N problems. It will be in the form of a DVD. How delivered to us is also not certain, whether we get the DVD or go to dealership to have them load to 430N. I think we who received our Overland's with 430N media center, once upgraded, should have our 1 year free Sirius Travel Link extended from that time for 1 year! ! !

WHAT SAY YOU ALL? ? ? ?

did they give you a date when it will be available? If they are smart, the post it as a .iso file and let us download it and burn our own DVD then update in the comfort of our own garages! :)

Thanks for the udpate Yukon!!

Only thing I have been able to get to work is an old Ipod Classic. Neither of my Iphone's will connect at all to the Jeep. Shannon's HTC T-mobile phone connected right up and is working fine on Bluetooth.

Hopefully this update works.

I read on another post that Ipone 3G airplane mode needs to be set to "on" and Bluetooth "off" if you want to listen/use voice commands for music. Makes the phone usless but might correct the issue temporarily until an update is available. Screen should be dark and in sleep mode, Bluetooth "on" obviously for bt streaming to work properly. Try that and see if it works. Best bet is to continue using and old IPOD.

After hearing all these horror stories I dusted off an old 30G iPod classic and rebuilt it from scratch. I'll simply plug that into the console jack (430N) and let the iPhone connect via BT as just a phone. Problem solved!

I could upload the music to the HDD and might do that eventually as an audio quality and search capability comparison.

I'm seriously considering getting an old 8 track player from the swap meet and using that although Chrysler probably won't support it without a software update. :bash:

I have a < 1 year old iphone touch, just keep in plugged in via USB.....I haven't had a single problem with it connecting to the 430N.

speaking of downloads, has anyone go to garmin.com/downloads and try any of the extas for the Garmin system like the games or the voice studio?

I'm pretty sure none of those will work with the 430N. Most require you to use webupdater that runs on your PC and detects the device when you plug it into the USB port. You might try to connect the 430N through the dash port to your computer to see if it recognizes it but I doubt that's going to work.

Here are the 4 links in the Support FAQ that relate to the 430N

My iPhone 4 works perfectly streaming and plugged into the arm rest, never had an issue. I transfer files from a 16GB flash drive plugged into the head unit. Make sure MP3's or JPG's are the only files on the drives.

For transferring files to hard drive you need to format the drive in Fat 32. That is what I read on another thread, and that is what worked for me. It may works as NTFS but I didn't even try it as the other thread had many people saying Fat 32.

That being said, once your files are on the hard drive, plug the drive into the dashboard USB port, and then you can upload them all to the HDD. IMO this is much better audio quality then the iPhone 4 bluetooth streaming at this time. I don't expect bluetooth streaming to have much better quality even after an update because there must be some sort of compression being used to be able to play so quickly over the air like that.

All of you should use the HDD. It works great, why bother plugging in your ipods even?

If you use the HDD, you can ALSO use the bluetooth streaming by switching from HDD to AUX. So in theory you have multiple sources of music, granted one sounds better then the other.

We really need one big thread for the 430N actually. There are so many threads and info all over the place. Here are things I'd like to know:

How do you load custom POI's?
Can you download a set of POI's, load them up and be done? What is the process?
What is the best way to tag your music files? All of my files are tagged perfectly in iTunes but if I look at Genres on my 430N there are tons of geners all over the place so obviously its not the same as done in iTunes.
How do you change the default Jeep Picture?
Is it possible to play movies off the HDD? Can you load a DVD movie to watch while in park?
What updates are planned and when will they be released if so?
What are the many voice commands to play your music?
Can we create custom playlists? Scrolling thorough all of my albums to get to an album that begins with the letter Z takes too long.

I'm sure theres way more questions

Good suggestion and good questions. Re the search function, use the "A-Z" button and enter a few characters, press Go and shortcut your way to the relevant playlists. I only have 700+ songs loaded so far but this is still a big help.

UPDATE: Chrysler Co. customer service called this afternoon about update to 430N for Sirius Travel link. We will be getting a disk with instructions on how to use it in the mail shortly. This disk will put Travel Link on the 430N and fix other problems with the 430N. If this goes true to form for ChryCo......don't hold your breath:rolleyes:

"we" as in everybody that has the 430N? Do you have to request it?

#34 ·
I called and emailed me and this is what they said
"I wish I had this information at hand for you; however, the best
resource for your question is the Parts Department of your local
dealership. They can review part availability and discuss any
alternatives you may have. They are the factory trained personnel that
know your vehicle and our products best!"

I emailed and specifically inquired about the 430n software update and got a reply with info on how to buy new maps. I'm just rolling with ChryCo right now as they get their groove on.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
