So maybe in previous revision of software, it was white background for daytime and black background for nighttime? Now it's just black background regardless? (of course, the nav map itself still has different background colors).

Maybe they changed the icons and ditched the white background so that it was less "cartooney"?

Jeeters - the white background you show above is the same version as the black background shown above. When the headlights are on the background screen turns black. When they are off (daytime) the background as white as you show above.

It sounds to me that a newer version has a completely different look. Perhaps someone with the newere version can post a pic?

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

My 430 definitely has a day and night mode... at night the map goes black/white/blueish... but my graffics are like those in the pic above...

Here's what it looks, for those curious. Sorry about the quality, but it gets the point across...

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

Anybody have any insight on this situation? I am starting to wonder if the radio is in some diagnostic mode or something. I have yet to see this weird color scheme on any media from chrysler. Wondering if you can get into the diagnostics somehow and change it. Anyone know how to access the radios diagnostic mode?

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

I have the same as the OT starter in both of 2012 X Jeeps , curious as to what makes the difference between the two. I like the colorful one better.

I have mine in auto, so it changes from white to back background as the auto-headlights go on and off. The switch on the dashboard left is on for the dash lighting brightness, it does not effect the Garmin day-night-auto setting. My 2012 is a 9-2011 build. Mine looks exactly like the photos, full color. The latest update for the 430N software is 4-2011, no newer updates are available yet. Best luck.
I disagree... I realize there is a day/night mode that makes the screen go dark for night time mode, but that doesn't change the icons/graphics to be what is shown by Jeeters. The pics from Jeeters look like a very different version, either very old or very new. Having had the RER previously, and now the RHB, those graphics look to be more like the RER but still an RHB. Unless I'm missing a button under settings that changes the appearance of icons, this is something new.

I haven't seen a newer update released, but that doesn't mean that the latest models aren't shipping with something new. Something has to explain the difference, but there's more to this than a difference in day/night mode.

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

It's not day vs night mode. Its a whole different interface. The question is why, and how to get rid of the ugly POS.

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

I'm still curious if the "unusual" display is caused by a newer firmware in the 430N. Would the original poster please check the radio's firmware so we all can see if it is different than ours?

Garmin Version 2.60

Software Versions

Dealer Locator: 2.00

Audio: 2.30

Software
Application: 33.00.41
Sirius: 1A.00.1E.14

Called dealer this morning. Talked to an advisor that happens to have a 2011 WK2 with garmin and he said his nav has standard colors and he has never heard of this but is investigating. This is weird.
