Re: 430N garmin nav colors

Only the 730N has the Weather Radar. The 430N Travel Link has Current Condition and Forecast Only - no map or radar.

Pics have already been posted by Jeeters on 01-18-2012, 06:02 PM and CFUSION on 02-06-2012, 09:32 AM (both are on page 2 of this thread).

So it looks like the 430 interface that has the "less colorful and less cartoony" graphics is version 33.00.41. Some people call this the ugly version. The "normal" version is 23.04.41. Some people may have an older version if their radio hasn't had the upgrade applied.

I sent off an email to Mitsubishi to find out more details on this latest software, specifically if there are any differences apart from the graphics, i.e. if there are any additional features or functions that come with this latest version. For example, v23.04.41 enabled the Sirius Travel Link... it's possible there are some new features in the 33.00.41 release.

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

The wife and I just checked out two Cherokees on our dealer's lot. One had the Garmin with the nice graphics and white background. The other had the clunky 730 nav in it. The wife instantly hated the 730. She said why would they not put the Garmin interface in the high-end system???

My dealer said if we go with the Overland Summit, it comes standard with the clunky 730 interface, and it can't be converted to the 430.

It is all about personal preference. My wife is 100% opposite. We thought we were getting the 730 but we found out after we brought it home that it came with the 430. She hates the lower-resolution, cartoonish graphics. I've tried to point out the benefits of the 430, and for the most part I am ok with the 430, but the 730 has some definite advantages as well.

Keep in mind too that if you get a 430 and its firmware gets updated to the new version you will have an interface that more closely resembles the current 730 interface.

And your dealer is completely right - you can't get the Garmin interface on the 730.

Re: 430N garmin nav colors

I just had a new 430N installed and it appears to have a slightly higher minor revision.
