430N Look and Feel

I know it's minor and I really like my GC, but does anyone else feel the fonts and look of the radio are pretty bad. I especially notice when I'm going through the sat stations, etc. I mean I'm comparing it to my wife's BMW NAV/Radio and it doesn't even come close in the way it looks. Can software updates eventually make this look better.

Re: 430N Look and Feel

If you think that looks bad, try playing a DVD.

It's a crummy 410x270 display. These fonts are the best it can do with so few pixels.

Re: 430N Look and Feel

I guess that explains it. I'm surprised since they made some nice improvements otherwise.

Re: 430N Look and Feel

Garmin QWERTY keyboard drives me nuts. I wish you could keep it set for upper case for all letters of the address as you type it in. The automatic change to lower case is crazy.

Doe the 730N (RHR) also have this crappy of a display resolution?

Never mind, the specs say 400x240 which is even worse. Even my 6 year old garmin 7200 has 480 x 234!!

Re: 430N Look and Feel

My email to Garmin:

My Nuvi 885T has spoiled me. I am extremely disappointed that I cannot update either software or features on my 430N, which is FAR inferior to my 885. I would gladly pay to have traffic, voice control, and map updates - - were they made available. (Please note that I have purchased lifetime updates and MSN for my 885) I don't know if it's Chrysler or Garmin that's keeping this such a "closed" system, but surely this can be made a profitable opportunity for both companies. If you care to examine comments on http://jeepgarage.org/, you'll see a clamoring for just such service. Thanks for looking into this . . .
