Re: 430N (RHB) to 730N (RHR) conversion question

Just when you thought this was over, I'm looking to upgrade to the RHR radio but am confused by which antenna to get. The parts manual shows part numbers 05064724AA as a satellite antenna and 05064350AA as a GPS antenna but I though that the antenna were conmbined. I ordered 05064350AA as recommended below but it looks like the regular RER GPS antenna. Which part number is the right combined antenna for the RHR? BTW, I'm putting this in a 2007 JKU not my WK2 so I don't already have the combined antenna. Thanks for any pointers.

This harness will connect the upgraded RHR radio directly to the factory rear view mirror with integrated microphone and bypass the external HFM that is no longer needed. Otherwise, the HFM voice recognition function will not work. In order to get the remote USB port (if equipped) to work, the mini USB must be disconnected from the external HFM and connected to the back of the RHR radio. Part number 68068278AA is a mini USB jumper cable with male mini USB connectors on both ends. The RHR radio uses a dual satellite radio/GPS antenna (part number 05064350AA). All 2011 model year vehicles that came with a navigation radio should already have this antenna from the factory.
I haven't done this swap yet, so IDK if they put the right connectors or not

Re: 430N (RHB) to 730N (RHR) conversion question

Ok guys...got my RHR in today and I really need help with part numbers for the dual band, combo antenna and the USB port in the harm rest. I looked through the parts manual but can't determine which part numbers work. The GPS part # provided above does not work...different connection and it is for the older RER. Thanks for any help.

Re: 430N (RHB) to 730N (RHR) conversion question

Dealer installed the 68068278AA mini USB cord today and now my 730N remote USB port is now fully working. The old cable that was attached plugged in to something just to the left of the steering column (maybe old UConnect box?). Instead, the new cable goes straight from the back of the stereo receiver unit and connects with the remote USB port via a connection at the right-front of the center console (passenger side).

Note: The tech had to plug in with the Jeep's computer and reset something after switching the cable before it would start working.

So happy it all works now!

The description on MOPAR doesn't indicate that this is the combo antenna so I'm hesitant on pulling the trigger on this part. Ayone know for sure?

Re: 430N (RHB) to 730N (RHR) conversion question

For some of the prices posted, nobody wants to go aftermarket? I was reading a crutchfield mag and some seem like they can run with some stock features. Nowadays they make a lot of harnesses to link up with car features. I havent done aftermarket radios in AWHILE. Just thought it might be worth a call to them, always good customer service from them and see what they can do.

Re: 430N (RHB) to 730N (RHR) conversion question

Back in the day, the connections on an aftermarket radio were power, antenna, and speakers. For the WK2, there's a connection to the CAN bus using proprietary networking protocols to integrate with the other electronics; for example, NAV prompts show up in the EPIC. I'd be surprised if Crutchfield had anything that could drop in and support all the features of the OEM units. If you call them, please post your findings.

There are a few companies that sell boxes that interprete "some" factory functions. PAC makes a chrysler specific box for the CAN BUS that does a pretty decent job. I was considering aftermarket but either didn't like the cluttered GUI or the lag in most of the ones I tried. I found the RHR on ebay for about the same price so jumped on it. I have it in my Wrangler but need a the USB port cable and also the combo antenna. I didn't know that the RHR will not show maps with out the antenna. I tried using the GPS antenna from my old RER but the connections were slightly different. Apparently the combo antenna uses the same yellow connection as the Sirius antenna.

I bit the bullet and ordered the WK2 Sirius antenna...I'm hoping that it works. Thanks again for the info.

No, but I'll give it a shot. After doing a little research, I got the old RER GPS antenna to work by simply pulling off the blue connector housing off the cable and plugging the cable into the yellow GPS/Sirius female port on the RHR. I lost my Sirius connection by doing this but GPS is more important to me than Sirius radio. If the dealer can verify the part # you gave me then I'll go with that so that I have full functionality. In the meantime, I'm happy with GPS and no Sirius.

Now, I have to figure out the iPod control connection. Its working using the front USB port on the radio's face but I want the remote USB port option. I have the USB male - male jumper cable that fits into the back of the radio, but not the remote USB port that is in the console. I've look through the parts catalog and ordered what I thought was the correct part but my confidence in that is only about 60%...we'll see when the part comes in. BTW, my dealer parts guy is not very good at this stuff. The first I went in to explain to him what I was doing, his first comment was that the antenna is still on the fender for the 2011 Wranglers. From then on, I knew he would be of minimum help if any. Thanks again, I'll def run that part by the dealer to see if he can redeem himself.

Re: 430N (RHB) to 730N (RHR) conversion question

Well, I received and installed the WK2 Sirius today on my Wrangler and it works fine. I also ordered a male mini to USB A female adapter and also a regular USB extension cable and plugged that into the RHR's USB port. The plastic housing was too thick so I shaved it down a bit and plugged it in. I have a fully functional RHB in my 07 wrangler. I dont have a port installed in my console but the extension cable has a regular female connector so it is bascically the same as the port in the console. I might run the cable into the console later but for now, im a happy camper. Thanks to all for the advice.
