Re: 6x9 upgrade in front; worth it?

this dude used a crossover for the tweeter but not the 6 x 9

Alpine 9 speaker system Speaker Only Upgrade results

"• Tweeter: The component tweeter was installed behind the OEM grilles. The outer diameter of the tweeter matched the inner diameter of the tweeter grille. The fit was snug and took a few dots of hot glue to lock the tweeter into the grille. For wiring I used the crossover that came with the tweeter I did this because I realized that the OEM tweeters also had a crossover. I removed the protection resistor from the wiring since it was not needed with this moderate powered system. I also cut off the OEM connector from the alpine tweeters and added them to the new shortened wiring I made for the focals. For the Tweeters I would not say it is 100% reversible since I cannibalized the connector.

• 6X9: The component woofer was a straight forward bolt in and all the holes lines up; there was no need to use the supplied spacers. For wiring, the speakers were hooked up without the included crossovers since the amp took care of the frequency control, this made the upgrade quite easy."

I'm running it with no crossovers with the alpine system there is no distortion and no need for the cross over. A tweeter can only play high frequency!

So dropped off the ride. Replacing the 6x9', tweeters in front, and the 6 1/2's in back with infinity speakers.. audio is so subjective, just hope it doesn't come off too bright..

Re: 6x9 upgrade in front; worth it?

Another concern is that everyone says the alpine system is 2ohm and the infinity speakers are rated a 3ohm. Not sure if this will be a problem?

Who's doing the work?? Let's see some pics. Also keep in mind the infinity speakers are more of a warmer sound reproduction as opposed to let's say the focals that can be brighter even after the break in period.

Im also concerned regarding the 6x9 speaker load, I want to get the Infiniy reference 6x9 speakers, Ive read in some places they are 2ohm and other places it has a 4ohm load or that it could work with a oem signal that requieres a 4ohm load.

Im looking into the Infinity Reference 9632cf 6x9s

While looking into the infinity website it says on the speakers "General Specifications" that it has a 2ohm impedance but on the speakers advertising pictures it says it has a True 4ohm Achitecture...

The good thing about them is that they have a 94db sensitivity rating.

I want to pull the trigger on them, but still worried about the ohm load

Re: 6x9 upgrade in front; worth it?

Blow your load lol! Get them they are great but you gotta get the whole setup (fronts, rears, center channel) and give it time to break in.

Components in the front, coax in the rear with tweeters pointing down, and coax center.
